Stop Weapons to South Sudan
![]() Photo © 2016 Human Rights Watch Over the past two and a half years in South Sudan government soldiers and armed opposition fighters have killed civilians, forced millions to flee their homes, raped women and girls and attacked schools and hospitals across the country. Throughout the conflict, heavy weapons have been used indiscriminately, killing civilians and causing destruction and terror. Last week, the UN Security Council met to discuss the situation in South Sudan. Many asked for an immediate arms embargo but the US hesitated again. They approved 4,000 more troops to secure peace in Juba and threatened an arms embargo if the government does not cooperate with the peacekeepers within a month. We need your help to put pressure on President Obama's advisors to stop the empty threats and immediately support an embargo on arms as part of a solution to end the killing and other abuses.
