I’m a 9/11 victim family member and I know Trump's new Executive Order on Guantánamo is NOT justice — Tell him to shut it down.

Guantánamo: 16 Years Too Long
Dear friends,
The September 11th attacks killed my brother, Greg. He was my only sibling, and his death was devastating for me and my family.

About two years ago, I arrived at Guantánamo to witness the pseudo-trial military commissions at the infamous camp as a 9/11 victim family member. As I observed the hearings, I realized this: Guantánamo will never provide justice for my brother’s death.

President Trump recently signed a new executive order to maintain Guantánamo’s unfair trials and indefinite detentions. We can’t let that happen. Will you join me in fighting back?

Trump wants to expand Guantánamo and its system of kangaroo courts. But that system has actively denied justice to me and my family. The pretrial hearings in the 9/11 case drag on and on—16 years after the 9/11 attacks—seemingly with no end in sight.

Guantánamo is a perversion of justice. We can’t let Trump expand Guantanamo. Tell Congress: Now is the time to close Guantanamo once and for all.

People were tortured at Guantánamo, and most of the 41 people still there have never even been charged with a crime despite spending years behind bars. We can’t risk more people being sent there.

I’ve had enough of Trump’s bigotry and fear-mongering. He does not speak for me and I know he would not have spoken for Greg. Will you join me in telling Congress to stand up to Trump? Together, we can win this fight for justice. I know my brother Greg would join us in standing up to Trump, will you?

In solidarity,

Julia Rodriguez
