Twenty-Three Horses Have Died at This Race Track. Protect Animals and Pass the Horseracing Integrity Act Now!

Dear friends,
On March 31, 2019, a 5-year-old racehorse named Arms Runner was injured so badly during a race at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, California that he had to be euthanized. He was the twenty-third horse to needlessly die at the park that year.
The U.S. horseracing industry is notorious for pumping animals full of pain medication to mask existing injuries so they can continue running. This is a dangerous and often lethal practice, and it's led to a string of tragic deaths that could have been prevented.
The catastrophic number of horse deaths at Santa Anita alone — the causes of which have yet to be conclusively determined — has sent a shockwave across the country. We must tell Congress to pass the Horseracing Integrity Act (H.R.1754) before more animals die!
The Horseracing Integrity Act would protect all U.S. racehorses by creating a uniform national standard for drug testing. It would ban all medications within 24 hours of a race and would create an independent authority to develop and administer a nationwide anti-doping control program for the horseracing industry. These measures would be lifesaving, and they can't come a moment too soon!
It's too late to help Arms Runner and the other 22 horses who died, but we can still help those who remain. Sign the petition to demand that the U.S. Congress pass the Horseracing Integrity Act to help save the lives of countless innocent horses!
Thank you,
P.S. When Princess Lili died, she was the twenty-second horse to perish at the Santa Anita racetracks, but she wasn't the last. Stop the senseless deaths of horses by telling Congress to take action now!
