Dear friends, The Trump Administration has the blood of millions of birds on its hands. In it's latest giveaway to business and industry, the administration has gutted the Migratory Bird Treaty Act (MBTA). Already companies are leaping at the chance to cut costs by canceling bird preservation projects. We need to show the Trump administration the we won't sacrifice billions of animals and thousands of species so a few people can make more money. Prior to Trump, the MBTA, imposed stiff penalties on businesses and people who kill migratory birds in the course of construction and operation. It's credited with saving whole species, like the snowy egret, from extinction. But under Trump's new "guidance," only intentional bird deaths will count. That means if businesses kill migratory birds, all they have to do is claim it was an accident and they can get away with it. This loophole effectively nullifies the whole law, something developers and other businesses have already realized. At least a dozen bird-preservation projects have been canceled since this guidance came out and businesses realized that killing birds is no longer punishable. The Trump Administration needs to know that we're paying attention to the laws they're dismantling, and we won't stand for it. Sign the petition to demand that the Trump Administration rescind their policy that could condemn billions of birds to death.
