#WORLD #WORLDWIDE #AUCKLAND #ANARCHISM #News #Journal #Update - (en) Tamaki Makaurau Anarchists - auckland-activist-fortnightly-newsletter-75

Kia ora and welcome to the seventy fifth Auckland activist fortnightly

newsletter! It's been a long time being at Alert Level 4, hopefully this is going
to end soon! Please stay safe! You can get the latest updates on COVID-19 in
Aotearoa here: https://covid19.govt.nz/ ---- The biggest campaign in Auckland
happening right now is Protect Putiki: https://linktr.ee/protectputiki on Waiheke
Island, where kaitiaki are protecting Putiki Bay from a colonial and
environmentally harmful marina development by Kennedy Point Marina Development
Limited through peaceful direct action. The kaitiaki have suffered massive
amounts of violence from private security guards and police, but their peaceful
direct action is resisting the development every day.

If you can go to Waiheke Island after lockdown ends, then the kaitiaki need more
people who can bear witness and engage in peaceful direct action. If you can't go
to Waiheke Island, then you can help through donating money and supplies, sharing
the campaign's content on social media, signing petitions and open letters,
attending solidarity rallies, attending court hearings of kaitiaki who have been
arrested by police, popping a manu, recording it on video and tagging Protect
Putiki and talking to your friends and whanau about the campaign.

There will be a range of other events happening throughout September such as
Trans Online Support Group every Tuesday from 4 May to Tuesday 30 November from
5pm online via Zoom, Auckland Workers Meet-Up for Raise the Bar Hospo Union on
Sunday 19 September from 5.30pm online via Zoom, Far right faces in conspiracy
places, How should anti-fascists respond on Tuesday 21 September from 8pm online
via Zoom, Aotearoa Kai Journey Event from Wednesday 29 September to Thursday 30
September from 3pm online via Zoom and Repair Cafe at the Hub on Saturday 16
October from 2pm at Gribblehirst Community Hub.

As with the previous newsletter, nearly all these events are online, so take a
break from your work and home life to improve your activism through some online
events until we go down alert levels!

We are an explicitly anarchist group in Auckland, about a year old, struggling
for a better, fair and equal world. We are always open to new members. To find
out more, come along to a public meeting, or you can find us at
tamakimakaurauanarchists@gmail.com.
