#WORLD #WORLDWIDE #ITALY #News #Journal #Update - (en) #sicilia libertaria: Work, battlefield (ca, de, it, pt)[machine translation]

The world of work is a battlefield. Even if the syndemic has canceled the

employment in thousands of small realities of the tertiary sector mainly linked
to trade, catering, services, etc., the diktat of the bosses, adopted by the
government, was to safeguard production first of all. , or profits, by imposing
business continuity on those risky conditions that were used elsewhere as
arguments to close any business. ---- Many fronts of strugglethey are on, and
they are further inflamed, precisely because of the deterioration of the already
bad working conditions. In particular, the situation in logistics, large
distribution, transport, agriculture, kept under pressure in the last two years
by the need for production not to stop, has seen a resurgence of exploitation,
blackmail and physical and verbal violence. . The factories and the many more or
less bogus cooperatives, the world of procurement and subcontracting, were at the
center of an unprecedented attack with which they tried to extinguish the
conflict of a segment of the working class tired of suffering and theater of a
series of particularly serious facts, such as the violent charges of the special
departments at the Texprint of Prato on 10 March, against workers on strike for
60 days to request 8 hours of work out of 5 days, instead of the 12/14 hours out
of 7 days imposed by the bosses. Identical determination in logistics, where very
tough fights took place in all FedEx / TNT offices, culminating in violent
clashes, arrests, dismissals. And the dealers returned to do their dirty work
under the watchful eye of the police, as happened on the night between 10 and 11
June at the Zampieri depot in Tavazzano (Lodi) against the FedEx fired workers in
Piacenza or on 16 June against the Texprint workers: an escalation that
culminated, as we know, with the death of Adil Belakhdim, manager of SiCobas,
chased from a truck that broke the block in front of the Lidl depot in Biandrate
(Novara). instead of the 12/14 hours a week imposed by the bosses. Identical

Talk about the battlefieldit is not rhetoric. The government, by canceling the
already incomplete redundancy block, has opened the doors to another attack on
male and female workers; there are dozens of situations such as the GKN in
Florence (422 redundant workers), where a simple email or a certified e-mail or
even a message on whatsapp was enough to throw hundreds of people into the
street, joining the thousands who have been they fight against the closure of
historic establishments, such as the Whirlpool in Naples. A very hot front from
North to South, from multinational companies to small businesses, where the
difficulties that are sometimes objective for the latter are flanked by the
relocations of the former to countries where labor is more exploitable, less
expensive and above all more subject to the logic of blackmail.
But the battlefield is also the real one made up of victims. In the most critical
period for the economy, with many sectors at a standstill, fatal accidents at
work, accidents and occupational diseases did not stop at all. In the first 6
months of 2021 alone, 538 workers died at work; but the month of August offered
us an almost daily trickle of deaths, even in a period traditionally dedicated to
holidays.
Construction and agriculture are still in the lead, but, as we have seen, even
the world of factories has not been exempt from the lowering of safety levels
linked to the desire to make more profits and not stop production. These are
sectors in which the work of migrants, both regular and irregular, is most
present, struggling with a radical lack of rights.
Under the guise of the crisis, companies impose forms of wild precariousness and
flexibility, increase the pace, stir the specter of layoffs, while the
dismantling of public services proceeds at a steady pace, in spite of the
much-heralded relaunch. The National Recovery and Resilience Plan has already
proved to be a tool to feed large capital and the military sector, while health,
education, research and the South as a whole are once again neglected and
therefore affected. which sees hundreds of billions of euros deducted in favor of
the North.
And among the attacks on male and female workers we cannot fail to mention the
pandemic, with the green pass used as a discriminatory element, to blackmail and
fire thousands of workers deprived of the freedom to decide freely on their life
and health. A qualitative leap in totalitarian terms, which is unprecedented in
Italian history if not going back to the years of the fascist purges.
For this reason, the general strike proclaimed by all the basic syndicalism
acronyms for 11 October is an opportunity not to be missed; it moves on all the
crucial issues that characterize the working and working conditions: blocking
layoffs, reduction of working hours, wage increases, free social services,
contrasting precariousness, relaunching investments in schools, health care,
transport , against the project of differentiated autonomy, to break the monopoly
of concertative trade union organizations, for the right to strike and the
abolition of Salvini decrees, for the strengthening of security and the role of
the RLS, for the protection of immigrant workers and the residence for all,
against the release of evictions for the reuse of abandoned public assets;
against any gender discrimination; for the protection of the environment, the
blocking of harmful productions and large speculative works; against the G-20 in
Rome.
We note that once again the theme of the drastic cut in military spending has
been omitted, and we consider this a serious gap and a deficit of perspective;
just as there is no reference to the issue of the mandatory green pass, perhaps
because it is still too divisive. But it is no longer the time to put aside
courage. We all know that a day of national struggle is only a moment, very
symbolic as it is important, of the confrontation with the government and
capital. But it is a signal that must be given at all costs. The conflict,
however, must be every day and spread over the whole territory; it must be able
to break the boundaries of the system if it is to succeed in affirming the claims
of the exploited.
