This Tuesday, September 21 in Lyon, anti-fascist activists from the "Groupe
Antifasciste Lyon et Environ" (GALE) suffered a wave of arrests following analtercation with a group of Catholic fundamentalist activists from Civitas during
an anti-pass demonstration by August 28. ---- Thursday, September 23, seven
activists were referred to the Lyon prosecutor's office, they were heard by the
prosecutor on Friday. 3 were released under judicial supervision, and 4 remain in
pre-trial detention. All will be judged on November 4. No complaint having been
lodged a priori, it is about a self-referral of the Public Prosecutor's Office
for having "committed violence in assembly on a person because of his alleged
membership of a group of extreme right".
The Libertarian Communist Union wishes to give its full support to the GALE
activists who are once again subjected to the harassment of the police and the
judicial system. Today, all our thoughts are with the activists indicted, those
who have been imprisoned and all their relatives.
The Libertarian Communist Union We also wish to denounce this justice so quick to
arrest, condemn and imprison anti-fascist activists and more generally of the
social movement.
We can only make the comparison with the total impunity enjoyed by the extreme
right-wing groups in Lyon. For example, when they attacked the La Plume Noire
bookstore, a self-managed and local bookstore at UCL Lyon, fifty fascists were
able to stroll from the Croix-Rousse plateau, attack and smash the bookstore
windows, come down in groups and pose with a banner on a catwalk. All this under
the nose of the police and CCTV cameras which are multiplying but have remained
strangely blind to this day.
A few months earlier, two people coming out of the same Black Plume ended up in
the emergency room under the blows of the fascists. Still in total impunity and
without any repercussions.
If the prefecture has clearly chosen the camp of the extreme right, the Lyon town
hall is not doing much better. Although she is supposed to be "left", she
nevertheless distinguished herself by letting the fascists open premises and
organize themselves, in addition to letting them perpetrate attacks repeatedly.
Faced with the attacks that our camp is undergoing, whether they come from the
State and the employers or the fascists, we know that we can only count on
ourselves and on the solidarity of our social camp.
Faced with the attacks on our camp, let us amplify a mass, class and anti-fascist
response, obtain the closure of the fascist premises and the arrest of violent
far-right activists.
