Key date of the social return, the inter-professional event of October 5 opens a
triple project: protecting unemployment insurance, defending our pensions, butalso rebuilding and locally anchoring a social movement undermined by successiveconfinements. ---- A day of strikes and inter-professional demonstrations isorganized by the inter-union CGT, Solidaires, FO and FSU on October 5. While thesocial news focuses on the issue of the health pass, this date is an opportunityto recall by its slogans the urgency of fighting the many government and employerattacks against our class. From the planning of this date in June by the CGT, thestake was clear: to re-mobilize our social camp after a year and a half of anepidemic which paralyzed many usually combative collectives.To put our social camp back in order, the trade unions affirm three prioritiesfor this day: to fight the reform of the government's unemployment insurance -which will drastically reduce the indemnities of the unemployed -; assert ourability to counter threats to our pensions after the social movement of winter2019-2020 ; Finally, October 5 aims to build the balance of power in order toincrease our wages, in a context of the pauperization of our class for thebenefit of the capitalists. The rise in prices makes this revaluation necessarybut it is above all the acceleration of the class struggle, between layoffs andrecord dividends, between social downgrading and explosion of the wealth of thecapitalists that makes an increase in the balance of power essential.If nobody expects that a day of strike is enough to make the government or theemployers bend, succeeding in this day would allow a real balance of power tobegin, it must therefore be seized. To seize it is of course to be personally onstrike and in action on the 5th, but it is also and above all to put our unionsback in motion for those whose union life has suffered from confinement, and togive back a taste for the collective struggle to the comrades who have isolatedthemselves since March 2020.It is also an opportunity to convince in our places of work or studies of theneed to organize collectively and to fight to resume the offensive, because inthe absence of a balance of power, the "whatever it costs" the government, it isour class that will pay for it.Three battles to fightAnd after the 5th?
