The results of the first round of the French presidential elections are not
uninteresting to study. What do they teach us? ---- Strong abstention ---- Firstof all, that abstention among 18-24 year olds is 42%. You should not be fooled bythis. Indeed, before being a rejection of the system, a large part of this 42%reveals a great depoliticization of youth. This depoliticization, it must be saidthat it is well maintained by the society that takes shape in us from an earlyage: work, consume, and shut your mouth. ---- This generalized depoliticizationnevertheless greatly polarizes the rest of the youth. Indeed among 18-24 yearolds, the two leading candidates are Mélenchon (with 31%), followed by Le Pen(with 26%). Macron comes far behind (with 17%). It must be admitted that if amajor part of the youth continues to piss off the national front, the fascisttemptation is rising more and more. The influence of the far right in socialnetworks, its strategy of establishing itself in universities, all of this has aresult that we are now observing. It is therefore important, for the youth who want to continue and who willcontinue to fight against the FN, to organize themselves, not to lower theireyes. It is certain that the high school and student unions have a vocation andare only asking to be joined by all those who have made the choice, by membershipor by calculation, to vote for the left in the first round. It's the fight that pays off!And we could see it quite recently. Indeed, the youth has shown that democracydoes not live in the polling station, but that it takes place on a daily basis insocial struggles! As in 2002, it was the youth who entered the fight first in theface of this foul second round. Indeed, it is aware of the absurdity of thispolitical system which denied its hopes and its emancipatory, social andecological demands, that young people began to want to take control of what wasleft to them: the street and the places of studies. So from the first week, fromthe first day, blockages and occupations were implemented. In Paris VIII, at theENS, at the Sorbonne, at Science Po Paris or Nancy, in Lille, at the IEP of Lyonetc., several of us have chosen to proclaim loud and clear that they and theypissed off the national front, but also the authoritarian neoliberalism of hisstepping stone Macron. Our comrades then suffered a fairly significant police repression: gassing of thedemonstrations, sequestration of the occupiers, threats of police custody, etc.Added to this is also that of far-right militias galvanized by the results, whichattacked several of these mobilizations, even if they were largely repelled. Thefascist apprentices, who think of themselves as anti-systems by calling for avote for Le Pen, have therefore once again shown that the only alternative theyoffer is none other than the same formula, but more violent. Thus, it is important that the young people in struggle do not give up theirfight, but also that they be joined by the workers who have everything to lose inseeing the extreme right come to power, and who have everything to win infighting for their future! In any case for us, it's decided: the youth will continue to annoy the front ornational rally!Youth Commission, May 2, 2022https://www.unioncommunistelibertaire.org/?La-jeunesse-emmerde-t-elle-encore-le-front-national_________________________________________A - I N F O S N E W S S E R V I C EBy, For, and About AnarchistsSend news reports to A-infos-en mailing listA-infos-en@ainfos.caSPREAD THE INFORMATION
