A few notes on the anti-government demonstration organized by representatives of
the ultra-right ---- A lot of wise (and stupid) things have already been writtenabout Saturday's demonstration on Wenceslas Square, so we will not try to do someincisive analysis of what led to it. In the following commentary, we will focusmore on what awaits us as anti-authoritarians and anarchists: ---- 1) First,let's admit that the situation is far from ideal and the cards are not dealt inour favor. Participating in events like the one on Saturday is unacceptable forus. We intensively reflect on the topic of the social decline of a large part ofsociety thanks to the unchained energy prices and inflation, regardless of thefact that it concerns us. The problem is who organized the event. In the past,similar organizers have more than once earned various forms of confrontation(blockades, direct actions...), whether they were trying to make a politicalliving on any topic. Now it would not be effective for several reasons, whetherdue to the current weak mobilization potential or the fact that it was not onlythe participation of the organizers and their most loyal.2) Although among the organizers there are weirdos, forged Nazis, pro-Russianactivists, leading figures of the disinfo scene and all kinds of anti-vaxxers,the same cannot be said about (all) the participants. Half of the Václavák "Nazisand Putinists" (fortunately) in the Czech Republic will not come to thedemonstration. On the one hand, it seemed that the ultra-right managed to uniteacross groups such as Trikolora, SPD, DOST, DSSS, Svobodní, Chcípl pes, NationalMilitia, Alliance of National Forces, Departure, Swiss Democracy, Manifesto... Wecan shamelessly include the KSCM in this family , whose Stalinist presidentialcandidate was one of the speakers advocating "fraternization" with Russia. We canassume that similar demonstrations will be repeated, but it is difficult toexpect that the aforementioned associations will not break up into disputingfactions at a decisive moment.3) The main trade union headquarters of the CMKOS, paralyzed by the presidentialcampaign of Josef Stredula, cleared the field for too long, so that the"traditionally left-wing" topic was taken up by previously marginal entities,which can largely be described as fascist or proto-fascist without exaggeration.During covid, they networked and learned to organize larger events. That is not agood message. Nevertheless, it seems that after a long time the unions want toapply for a say in the streets as well. Let's just hope that it won't be thebackdrop for Stredula's presidential campaign and that the unions as a whole willhave enough sense to put his person behind them, as well as not to let otherpoliticians take advantage of them.4) So what can an anarchist, but also a progressive left movement, do? First ofall, it is necessary to participate in future anti-government actions, which willbe organized, for example, by trade unions, and not be afraid to take theinitiative if it is even possible. As part of such protests, warn againsthalf-heartedness and their misuse in the political struggle.5) Our demands are clear: ordinary workers must not pay extra for the crisis,while energy companies collect record profits. "Gas from Putin" is unacceptable.Ukrainian workers are our allies, and no measures against rising energy pricesmust strengthen the position of the Russian dictator.6) In the long term, we must push for the development of renewable energy sourcesand decentralized energy and for maximizing energy independence. We must notaccept the narrative "when the going gets tough, ecology must step aside". On thecontrary, it is an opportunity to move forward in mitigating the climate crisis.The current situation is largely caused by dependence on fossil fuels.7) Let's identify the organizers of Saturday's event (and future ones), revealthe links between them, their funding sources and monitor the communicationchannels they use. The unpreparedness and shock of "how could this happen" is avery, very unpleasant thing.8) Let's try to build an anti-authoritarian movement that will be able to pick upon social discontent itself, instead of just watching it being seized by thebrown scum, who in reality desire above all their own power, the establishment ofan authoritarian order in a society cleansed of all minorities, which does notfit her in the shop.
