On Saturday at 1 p.m. a protest in defense of the 28-year-old social, cultural
and political center Rozbrat began. For several years now, each subsequentbirthday of this place has been held in an atmosphere of eviction. This is mainlydue to the lack of involvement of the Poznan authorities in preventingre-privatization. to which the shady company Darex wants to lead. ---- Alldetails regarding irregularities related to the plot on which Rozbrat is locatedcan be found here and in the latest statement. ---- The demonstration began withspeeches in which attempts were made to outline the current legal situation, theintentions of the Darex company and the lack of reaction of the city authoritiesto the attempt to extort a plot belonging to the state treasury. Also, young people associated with the EmployeeInitiative emphasized that it was thanks to the meetings at Rozbrat that theycould engage in trade union activities and fight for their rights and the rightsof exploited workers.The protest moved along Pulaskiego Street, and then headed to AlejeWielkopolskie. The following slogans were shouted to the rhythm of the musicplayed by Samba Halastra: "Rozbrat stays", "We are, we act, we will not give upRozbrat", "Tenants are not goods". At the height of the viaduct, the so-calledpitted, a group of people hung a banner with the slogan "Rozbrat stays. Poznan isa city without eviction ". Heading to the Wodziczki Park, they shouted "Save thegreen wedge, we won't leave this land". The stopping point in the Park is locatedin the vicinity of newly built buildings, which are the result of the gradualdevelopment of a wedge of greenery, the limitation of the park area and the lackof perspective on the part of the city authorities. Climate changes shouldencourage the protection of green areas, while the authorities of Poznan allowfor their increasingly stronger reduction, ignoring the losses incurred by allcity residents. The few who can afford a flat in new blocks live in an areafenced off and protected by CCTV monitoring, apparently believing that theproblems of a concrete city do not concern them.The manifestation continued through the park to a picturesque path that localresidents call the Passage to Narnia. Fighting for the protection of nature, greenery,resistance to concreteosis and climate change, which the government ignores.Following the park alleys, the demonstrators could see another banner hung on thePST viaduct with the slogan "Rozbrat stays. Poznan without concrete ".On reaching the area of the Bagdanka Free City Garden (WOMB), you could hear ashort history of this place. The garden was established two years ago, after theeviction of the former allotment owners, which took place due to Darex, whichthreatened them with fines for non-contractual use of the company's allegedproperty. In fact, the area of the former ROD Bogdanka is another plot of landtaken over as a result of wild re-privatization and in suspicious circumstances,which was due to the inertia of the plot management. Not agreeing to the factthat another green area would be taken over and most likely sold, activists fromRozbrat decided to occupy it. In this way, an open community garden was created -it enables gardening and ecological farming. There were also meetings, lectures,workshops and even concerts. WOMB also serves as a place to rest for residents.It is also used by refugees from Ukraine who spoke out in protest, supportingRozbrat and WOMB. They emphasized how much this place means to them, in Ukrainethey had to leave their gardens, here they can find respite and are greeted withopen arms.The demonstration headed back to Pulaskiego Street, near Rozbrat. Chantingslogans all the time, people stopped to listen to the last speeches. Therepresentative of Rozbrat recalled how important this place was for building thetenant movement in Poznan. It was in Rozbrat where the Wielkopolska Associationof Tenants was established. It was here that the protest and actions against thecleaners of tenement houses were prepared.
