pro-independence camp. The most radical sectors of the pro-independence right
have begun a 'Trumpist' and conspiracy drift, as was seen during the
commemoration of the attack on August 17th. They have a blind faith in leaders
who by all means are useless for leading anything. They unashamedly welcome
racist and anti-occupier speeches (pure classism) - which they already had before
but which were greatly mitigated by the Process - which shows a more pronounced
right-wing of their speech and ideology, in line with what is currently happening
in western societies.

As for ERC, its pacts with the state have completely extinguished its longings
for its own state. Their decline in positions has been such that it even
surprises them in Madrid. The Independentist Left also suffers from this
collective crisis, with splits due to divergent strategic lines, or paralysis of
proposals to society. But the independence crisis also led to the end of the
unionist parties opposed to it, with the liquidation of Ciutadans. It is true
that we have an ultra-right organized like never before in the entire State, but
it has been left without one of its battlehorses: the fight against the
independence of Catalonia.

If we have to learn something from everything that has happened recently, it is
that the collective action of the people is far ahead of their leaders. The big
mistake of 2017 was not generating new forms of popular leadership, from the
grassroots, and continuing to trust people who during the trials were shown to
have been playing two sides.

But the story continues. We have an extremely complicated year ahead of us at a
socio-economic level. The energy and ecological crisis have already manifested
themselves in all their rawness. The winter will be very hard. At the labor
level, we will have a really hot autumn, and the unions are already preparing. We
must focus on the class struggle that frames our time. With these struggles we
must be able to build a political culture of confrontation and overcoming the old
structures that are holding back the alternative of social transformation that we
desire.

 From Embat, the Libertarian Organization of Catalonia, we are calling to fill
collectives, support networks or unions throughout the territory. Now we need to
make them strong enough so that they can achieve meaningful victories to change
the balance of power. Let's not forget that class struggle is the driving force
of history, and that a victory could well trigger a cycle of social struggles
that help us build popular power. So, true self-determination requires the
construction of popular power and its institutions that make possible the total
overcoming of the current ones.
