The inscription "No to all armies!" it appeared last night on the base of the
monument to the alpine troops in the rock garden area of the Valentino park. ----January 26th is the "National Day dedicated to the memory and sacrifice of theAlpine troops". Established in May 2022, it will be celebrated every year "inmemory of the heroism shown by the army corps in the battle of Nikolajewka onJanuary 26, 1943", during the Second World War. The all too explicit intention isto celebrate the adventure of ARMIR, the Italian expeditionary force sent toRussia by Mussolini to support Nazi Germany's aggression against the Soviet Union. On January 26, one day before the day of remembrance, which commemorates theextermination of European Jews and Roma in Nazi camps and the racial laws inItaly during the dictatorship, the war wanted by the fascist government and thepatriotic values that justified it are celebrated .A real state revisionism. This celebration, which puts national interest and patriotic rhetoric back at thecenter as a founding element of modern-day militarism, produces an excess ofmemory to the detriment of history. On January 26, 1943, Italian and German troops had already lost the war on theRussian front. The Alpini sent to the frozen plain were completely surrounded bySoviet troops. The Battle of Nikolajewka served to secure an escape route for thesoldiers. A disastrous escape, in the heart of the Russian winter, in which manypoor souls sent to the front for the Duce and the King died.Human pity for those proletarians sent to slaughter, a sentiment shared by manyin our country, cannot and must not be translated into patriotic exaltation of aninvasion war alongside the Nazis.Today in those same lands a very tough war is being fought between theimperialisms of today, between the Ukrainian army, actively supported by NATO,and the Russian bloc. Once again, the losers are the poor who have no way out,who suffer from bombs, military occupation, the endless violence that every warpermits and justifies. The framework is always the same, that of opposingnationalisms, supposed clashes of civilizations, but the real game is that of thecontrol of resources and territories, for the interests of those who get rich onthe lives of the oppressed and exploited.Fascist-led Italy is at the forefront. In less than a year, the number of Italiansoldiers deployed in Eastern Europe on the borders with Ukraine, Russia andBelarus has increased fivefold. Out of the 7,000 personnel currently employed ininternational missions, almost 1,500 operate within NATO in the "containment" ofthe Russian armed forces. Starting from 2014, the Atlantic Alliance has givenrise to a war escalation on the eastern flank as never before in its history. Inthe Baltic Republics, Poland, Romania, Bulgaria and Hungary, large land, air andnaval installations have been built, the most advanced warfare technologies havebeen transferred, global conflict strategies of the 21st century have been testedwith the use of drones and fully automated, cyber-spatial and nuclear weapons. In Italy there are bases from which drones used in espionage missions depart, from these same bases, if there were an expansion of the conflict, drones andbombers armed with nuclear devices can depart. The head of the Piedmont Aerospace District is now the Minister of Defence. Afascist closely linked to the Italian arms industry, ready to build the City ofAerospace in Turin, a new research and design center for increasinglysophisticated war devices, with the direct involvement of the Polytechnic whichwill have its own space inside of the new city of weapons. Weapons that arealready used in conflicts across the world.A direct involvement of Italian troops in the war in Ukraine is possible. Withoutforgetting the 40 military missions abroad in which Italian soldiers are employed. The Alpini have been and are today in the front row of the wars in which Italyhas participated in recent years. Six months abroad and six months in themilitary control of the cities - operation "safe streets" - or in the militarizedconstruction sites of Valsusa. The circle closes. A fascist battle to celebrate Mussolini's war and to relaunchItaly's new imperialist adventures.January 26 should be a day of mourning. Mourning for the millions of civilianswho died in that war that bloodied Europe. Mourning because, from the ashes offascism, a government inspired by that era resurrects the patriotic rhetoric, thewar of conquest, the horrors of colonialism.Let's stop them before it's too late.https://www.anarresinfo.org/alpini-revisionismo-di-stato/_________________________________________A - I N F O S N E W S S E R V I C EBy, For, and About AnarchistsSend news reports to A-infos-en mailing listA-infos-en@ainfos.caSPREAD THE INFORMATION
