On March 8 in Yerevan, the anarchist group "Black Banner" took part in the
celebration of International Women's Day together with the Kurdish community, thus expressing solidarity with the Kurdish struggle. ---- Kurds have a clearfeminist stance: women are represented both in the military and in politics. Oneof the important roles in the fight against the Islamic State in Syria was playedby Kurdish units, where women fought on an equal basis with men.As we were told by representatives of the "Black Banner", during the rally, theyrecalled the ideas of Abdullah Ocalan that it is time to liquidate the statistand patriarchal civilization that has existed for 5 thousand years, and to opposecapitalism with a new democratic system where women will be free. Thedemonstrators also shouted slogans in support of Ocalan, calling for his releasefrom a Turkish prison on the island of Imrali."For us, anarchists from Armenia and other countries, both the struggle of womenand the national liberation struggle of the Kurdish people are extremelyimportant and dear, in which, as Abdullah Ocalan said to Apo, the role of womenis incredibly great," writes Black Banner . - Now Kurdish women are fighting withweapons in their hands against Islamists and Turkish occupiers in Syria and Iraq, they are protesting against obscurantists and sadists from the IRGC in Iran afterthe murder of a Kurdish woman for the "wrong" hijab, they were able with the helpof solidarity and self-organization, through the creation their councils andcooperatives, to build an alternative to the capitalist and patriarchalcivilization in Rojava. It is also important to remember that Armenian women are fighting side by sidewith the Kurds in the same Syria, and the Armenian liberation is impossiblewithout the Kurds."----------------------------------------------------------A rally of solidarity with the protesters in Georgia will be held in Yerevan.
