March 8 represents the International Day of Working Class Women, we at FOB
understand the issue of women and overcoming sexism and patriarchy as afundamental condition for building a new world (socialism). ---- It is visiblethat trends inside and outside the electoral left, seek to empty that date ofmeanings, seek to unlink the understanding that our freedom will be impossiblewithin capitalism. That is why it is necessary to rescue the spirit of New Yorkseamstresses, who in 1908 fought for better working conditions, and in 1911 hadtheir lives taken in a fire; of the Russian workers, who in 1917 fought for breadand peace; Laudelina de Campos and several domestic workers, who in 1936 createdunions to fight for their rights here in Brazil; of the zapatista women, who inthe 90's self-organized and built new possibilities for the world; of Kurdishwomen, who fight for the right to be what they are and teach us to have hope; ofindigenous and peasant women from colonial Brazil, who have always fought forland and freedom. These examples inspire us and teach us that the way to overcomeour problems is the systematic fight against capitalism and all the ills itcauses us.Women's struggle is not an accessory, which can be taken and put on when theydeem it necessary, we are constantly violated in different ways. In Brazil, every4 hours a woman suffers some type of violence, we have no security, neither athome nor on the streets, the number of cases of femicides only increase and everyday at least one woman is murdered for being a woman , in the same way Brazil isone of the countries that most kill the Trans population in the world. There areso many cases that demonstrate the State's impotence and connivance with violenceagainst women, even more so when this female identity is not biological, a Statethat legitimizes our massacre. This is why our fight is vital, because we areliterally fighting for our lives!Our indignation cannot be temporary, we have to build solutions to our problems,build our support networks, build our self-defense, seek together with our own,reverse this scenario. The struggle accompanies us and for us, working women, itbecomes increasingly necessary to organize ourselves to bury what, on a dailybasis, wants our end. Let us remember, and honor, those who fought before us sothat we could be here. Our historic challenge is to break with a liberal logic,which presents individual solutions to our problems, machismo and patriarchy arestructural and structuring of this system, so it will not be palliative solutionsthat will change this.
