Labor disputes are currently taking place in various sectors. Strikes are taking
place in many regions in individual sectors such as educators, hospital staff orthe post office. The struggles in the factories are a crucial arena in the classstruggle - in this crisis and beyond. Nevertheless, they often take place outsideof the struggles in which the radical left is otherwise active and rarely attractattention in left-radical circles. So how can we overcome this division andsupport the current labor disputes? ---- In the past few weeks, our local groupin the Ruhr area has started to visit strike rallies and demonstrations to showtheir solidarity with the strikes and to report publicly on the workplacestruggles. A first small step. But much more would be possible. Here are somesuggestions:Go to the strike demonstrations where you are - if you have time. Informationabout strike dates can usually be found on trade union channels. Otherwise youcan also talk to colleagues on site about it.Feel free to take things with you to strengthen the atmosphere on site. Manystrikers are already looking forward to sandwiches or a cake.Get in touch with the striking colleagues on site and make contacts. Askspecifically how you can support their fight. A flyer or a newspaper that isdistributed is often a good starting point for a conversation. You can find aflyer from us to download on the website of the Platform Ruhr. The link is inprofile. But it should also be about getting into a discussion with one another.After all, there is enough that rightly annoys many strikers about the strategyof the reformist unions. This is where we should start and represent ourpositions openly.Draw public attention to the strikes by spreading information about them and thevoices of the struggling colleagues at grassroots level through the channelsavailable to you (social media, newspapers, events, among friends).If you are active in other struggles like neighborhoods, the climate movement orthe feminist movement then try to connect to the current labor struggles. Becausethese are always closely related to the overall social conditions. This can work,for example, through a speech at the strike demonstration (just ask on site). Orby getting striking workers to speak at your mobilizations.While all of these things are important, they cannot replace one thing: fromsupporting the industrial action of others, we need to move towards a situationwhere we ourselves fight industrial action in our workplace together with ourcolleagues. Therefore, above all, discuss with your own colleagues, try toinitiate labor disputes together and actively participate in the current strikesif you work in one of the struggling industries.
