As the Initiative of Anarchist Saints Anargyro - Kamaterou, we condemn the
thuggish and mafia-like invasion of members of Rubicon in the 1st Indymedia
accountability meeting. This invasion, which was called "intervention" and took
the form of a gang attack, with the attempt to create an environment of
intimidation with the perimeter control of the area and the entrance, with the
threat of violence to anyone who opposed it in terms that refer to a clearing
accounts ("let's talk outside") and the more general targeting of partners/equals
that has continued since then, we believe lacks any political and moral background.

Before entering into the analysis of our position, we would like to point out
that at least for the time being, in this particular text we do not intend to
position ourselves on the publication and its content which was the reason for
Rubicon's thuggish attack on the body of the Indymedia accountability assembly.
This decision of ours is not based either on a "convenient" logic of overcoming
the political and value essence of the case, nor on a logic of maintaining
"balances" and equal distances, as is usually the case to serve petty political
agendas or for reasons of laundering. We consider the event tragic and do not
want to take a position under the pressure of the facts, which is not
substantiated, solid, taken through a disaffected view of the circumstances that
led to it. The only thing we will underline is that Rubikon's position is
inherently problematic and given that he hid his relationship with the alleged
murderer in his only public position, it can never be considered trustworthy and
its uncritical adoption is even required. Those who cover up the truth and then
impose gang omerta cannot invoke it.

After all, the same attitude and handling on the part of Rubicon leads us to deal
first and foremost with the terms of public confrontation and the practices
employed for it. What was attempted on the part of Rubicon in this particular
case is, as mentioned above, the imposition from above of an omerta around the
specific issue, according to which any investigation, questioning, let alone
opposition to his own position was dealt with principle and preamble under a
regime of threats and targeting. This climate of intimidation, in fact, was built
around apolitical insults and threats unleashed by social media members who went
so far as to speak of "internal cinema civil war" in the event of their unwashed
being made public. However, this is not the first time that similar threats have
been made about "inside cinema civil wars" and "Thessalonians". It seems that
some people's imaginations run wild and their claims to be "civilians" are
ultimately motivated by other motives. For some it may be the case that in the
given juncture they are motivated by emotional charge, but undoubtedly they fall
pawns on personal claims and unwittingly become leverage. Certainly nothing
political exists in all these "civil claims" not even from a political or
ideological hegemony point of view. They are vain micro-hegemonic fantasies, with
a hooligan background. For some it may be the case that in the given juncture
they are motivated by emotional charge, but undoubtedly they fall pawns on

exists in all these "civil claims" not even from a political or ideological

The initiators of the "threat campaign" believed that nothing would be made
public regarding the facts of the account, that there would be no response to the
published threats, and that it would be an "easy victory" that would not activate
the majority of the anarchist movement who were hostile to such logics.
Apparently they were counting without the hotelier. A key parameter is the fact
that there was no public position signed by Rubicon regarding the publication in
Indymedia for which he organized the thuggish "intervention" in the medium's
reporting. There has been no official announcement by the group in which it
analyzes its position, registers its opposition, to criticize on the basis of
political and value arguments or even to complain by raising the tone and
presenting a more "dynamic intervention". The logic from the beginning was "who
knows, knows", a demand for passive followership and a declaration of "war" so
that nothing comes to the fore. The only public reference we found, apart from
the thuggish presence at the Indymedia accountability meeting, was the
publication of a member of said social media in which he informs (we imagine
being authorized by his collective) the cessation of the group's publications in
the medium, with the hurling apolitical insults and without mentioning the reasons.

We do not know, nor does it concern us, if the specific member has taken on the
duties of "press representative", nor does it concern us if it is considered a
politically tested and serious procedure by Rubicon to inform them of their
decision (without stating the reasons) through a post member on facebook. Let
these occupy those and those who must occupy its interior. What we do know is
that anarchists do not attempt to impose gang omerta by spreading threats and
insults devoid of any morals, but especially when it comes to important demands,
they publicly state their position and criticism. Having acted in this way, they
have the moral and political stature to raise intra-cinema controversies, even
more acute if political settlement is impossible and disputes are high. The
submission of the position on a confrontation must be public so that there are no
shadows and question marks and it does not give space to behind-the-scenes
discussions that most often end up in a gossip-type apolitical yellowness. At the
same time, transparency and clarity of intentions require publicity and not
under-the-table moves. In addition, the way and the means we use in a political
confrontation do not only concern the part of "behavior" but also the political
essence itself, as the way we support our positions as anarchists must be in line
with them, as well as with the values we stand for. On the one hand there is the
"we're going to fuck you" down-to-earth attitude and the mob-like display of
power to comply through fear (which fall perfectly flat), behind-the-scenes
targeting and apolitical insults and on the other hand there is the public
support of the position policy-based and value-based documentation. Alas, if the
second option qualifies as rolling in the mud while the first does not.

What came to light regarding Rubicon's thuggish "intervention" in the Indymedia
Report, as well as what followed with the spread of threats and targeting, the
truth is that we were not surprised. And this is because these events are the
culmination of pathogenesis and chronic practices that also characterize this
group. The problem that such practices find the ground to continue for a long
time lies in the silence and "burying" of a multitude of previous events. These
are facts that can be discussed with coffee-goers, unfortunately most of the time
in terms of personal conversations and wells but were never made public in order
to acquire the weight that belongs to them,

Against this mafia-type operation of hegemony, all the organized forces of
anarchism and comrades/equals who wish not to perpetuate this condition, must
take a public position condemning these practices and putting a brake on any
vision of carrying out the threats that were launched. In our opinion, silence in
such cases is tantamount to tolerance and allowing space for the existence of
such practices to continue either by them or by other thugs. It is judged once
again in recent years, the consistency of all.

At this point we consider it important to remind those who pretend to be ignorant
or those who really do not know, that the problem does not begin and end at the
Rubicon. Rubikonas is not the only grouping that has attempted to exercise
hegemony by employing apolitical methods and mafia-gang practices. Of course, we
do not mean examples such as the intervention at the event with the far-right
collaborator Terzakis in the ANK which was obsessively and ridiculously offset by
the apolitical intervention of Rubicon. We are referring to events that occurred
mainly during the period of SYRIZA's government, a period that has not been
sufficiently accounted for and evaluated in terms of the intra-cinematic
confrontations and conflicts that existed, both in terms of their contents and in
terms of their practices. The result of this condition has led to the "washing
out" of such groupings, whose criticism and denunciation of the recent events
concerning Rubicon can only be considered hypocritical and an attempt to "bury"
their own dirt. Unfortunately for them, the memory will not become trash.

Everyone should understand that political confrontation is not a turf battle and
enlisting in anarchism is not a fan choice. Those who tried in the past to
exercise hegemony from above, of a gang-like and sectarian nature, failed
miserably and now, without the possibility of developing autonomous and
independent action and strategy, they simply live in the interior of the space,
thanks also to those who wash them away in opportunistic fronts, open assemblies
and coordinations. Without the laundromats they would have been dissolved a long
time ago. Based on this, any such grouping that claims the "hegemony of space"
based on mud, threats and gang violence, to realize that it will fall into
absolute decline if it thinks of raising hands against comrades and comrades and
such an act will be the beginning of its end not only in relation to the rest of
the forces of the anarchist movement but mainly in relation to possible new
fellow travelers who will now they know who they are and will not be locked into
their agendas as a result of their political ignorance. At the same time, any
grouping that thinks it can raise a hand to partners with the assessment that
only those close to them will react is laughable. Already the continuous
placements and complaints despite the differences between them, which we estimate
will increase, have proven it. Let the "civil" claims end, let the threats end,
let any thoughts of raising hands end, here.

In closing, we must point out that we were not present at the indymedia
accountability meetings and our position is not in the direction of a general
defense of the medium, with the operation and publication policy of which we have
serious disagreements, which we considered not to be the right time. to be
formulated. Our defense is special, based on the attack received and it is a
binding defense, if necessary practical and available at any time if the partners
need it and want it. Right, companionship, solidarity are concepts and values
that cannot be remembered and guarded only when they hit people who connect us
with deep identifications and common paths. They are not attitudes about closed
castes, it is not a case of "likes" and it is not politically measurable to value
defense of partners/equals to enter into cost/benefit scales. For anarchists, it
is a non-negotiable attitude to life that does not count costs and it is values
that have practical responsibilities and are constantly being judged.
