On the 15th, exactly 10 years ago, what we called the Embatt Process began to
walk, a process of building a libertarian organization based on social anarchismand the strategic concept of popular power. ---- The militants who founded Embatcame from a stage of debates with militants from other parts of the state thatbegan around 2010 through face-to-face meetings, internet forums and incipientnetworks social. In between, we experienced the Arab Spring, the birth of the 15Mmovement, the Occupy movement and an outbreak of social struggles around theworld. ---- We saw that there was an interesting revolutionary breeding groundand similar features to libertarian practices, despite the disorganization anddisorientation of those movements that were later easily co-opted by the "new left".Among the reasons that led us to create our process, was the urgent need to havea libertarian movement ready to face the political dispute of the popularmovements so that they would develop as straw poles of the revolutionaryconstruction. We were very critical of the anarchism prevailing in Catalonia atthat time, deeply anti-organizational, spontaneist and hostile to any strategicplanning.For this reason, one of our first tasks was the dissemination of the ideas-forceof social anarchism. Today, fortunately in the State there are many formallibertarian groups claiming to be part of social anarchism or libertariancommunism in its various forms. We do not attribute this progress to ourselves,however, since generational changes have also intervened in it, the influence ofevents external to the libertarian movement or the appearance of otheranti-authoritarian paradigms very close to ours that favored the organization ofmovements such as democratic confederalism, communal democracy, some sectors ofautonomy or the latest reinvigoration of anarcho-syndicalism.The other paradigm, that of popular power, was more novel. We shared the analyzesof our libertarian sisters in Latin America, who started from anarcho-communismand adopted specifism. One of the key strategies of the so-called specificism,precisely, is popular power, or as they say, the construction of a Strong Town.It is essential to contribute, to be part of the people, and it is also essentialto create popular structures that contribute to the popular movement.A lot has happened in these ten years. From arrests and police espionage to ourparticipation in mass movements such as October 1st, to training work andconferences, translation of texts, or participation in various popular and tradeunion struggles.We thank and give a fraternal greeting to all the colleagues who have passedthrough our Organization, since Embat has been possible thanks to you.
