The class unions, organizations that represent workers, want to address
an extremely important issue at this time: the relationship of theSpanish state with Israel and its Zionist government. In recent days, wehave witnessed tragic events for the Palestinian people, who aftersuffering decades of occupation, apartheid and injustice perpetrated bythe Israeli Zionist governments and their army, have suffered sinceOctober 7 war crimes, indiscriminate bombings against the civilianpopulation, hospitals, schools... cuts in electricity, water, fuel,medicine, food supplies...It is essential to understand the historical context of this conflict.The formation of Israel in 1948 resulted in the occupation ofPalestinian territory and the displacement of 800,000 Palestinians, whostill live as refugees in their own land today. The State of Israel,largely funded by the United States and the European Union, continues toignore international humanitarian law and maintains its criminaloccupation of Palestine.Its method of ethnic cleansing, uninterrupted anti-Palestinianapartheid, is recognized and repudiated by broad Jewish sectors andacademics, by Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch and the last tworeports of the UN Human Rights Commission.Especially in the Gaza Strip, where 2.4 million Palestinians live ininhumane conditions, deprived of their basic rights. The Palestinianresistance, labeled by "the international community" as terrorism, is inreality a legitimate manifestation of the right of invaded peoples tofight their aggressors. Palestinians have suffered unacceptableinjustices and their message is simple: "Enough is enough."For all these reasons, we urge the government of the Spanish state tobreak diplomatic and commercial relations with a State that perpetuatesan apartheid regime and violates the human rights of the Palestinianpeople. The signatory Class Unions, following the public call of thePalestinian unions, ask the Spanish State to adopt a clear, fair andsupportive position in defense of Palestine.This is why we unanimously support actions such as those promoted by theBDS (Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions) campaign against Israel as ameans to promote positive changes in the region. We also urgegovernments around the world to condemn the Israeli apartheid regime andimmediately break all agreements with Israel, especially those relatedto military collaboration.We ask the Government and parliamentarians to approve these initiatives,as a position against the atrocities that the Israeli Zionist governmentis committing in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank against thePalestinian people.The struggle of the Palestinian people requires global solidarity.
