The place where the Muslim Brotherhood has managed to prevail and assert
its political supremacy is the Palestinian area and specifically the
Gaza Strip. In this territory, during the elections for the legislative
council of the PNA, held on 25 January 2006, Hamas won, while Abbas's
(and, before that, Arafat's) Fatah Party, dominant within the PLO, came
second . Israel, the United States and the European Union imposed
sanctions against Hamas, which they considered a terrorist organization
and Fatah opposed Hamas which decreed its expulsion from the Strip.
Zones A and B of the West Bank remained formally governed by Fatah
which, although internationally recognised, saw its power diminish,
albeit slowly, eroded by Israel's occupation authority. While all this
was happening in the West Bank, Israel carried out a land, air and sea
blockade of the Gaza Strip and mortar shells and Qassam rockets hit
Israel from the Strip.

Somehow Israel established a modus vivendi with Hamas, finding
convenience in the division that had occurred within the Palestinian
camp and, with the support of President Bush's American administration,
an international conference was convened which concluded with a joint
Israel-PLO declaration in which the parties declared that they agreed on
the intention to make every effort to reach an agreement by the end of
2008 and to put into practice the commitments undertaken with the
roadmap drawn up in 2002 to reach a solution that provided for the
constitution of the two States. It goes without saying that on the one
hand this agreement isolated Hamas, but on the other it discredited the
PLO, in the eyes of the Palestinians, at a time when they could verify
on the ground Israel's continued penetration into the occupied
territories, the expansion of settler settlements and the
ever-increasing downsizing of the Palestinian National Authority, its
inefficiency and subordination to the occupier, the growing corruption.

The 2008 war between Israel and Hamas led to airstrikes and a ground
offensive in the Gaza Strip in response to increased rocket fire by
Hamas. The intervention ended after three weeks and with a death toll of
more than 1,100 Palestinians in Gaza and 13 among Israelis. Elections
should have taken place in 2009 at the end of Abbas' four-year rule in
the Palestinian National Authority, but after the conflict the new
elections were postponed indefinitely and the mandates extended: it was
feared that Hamas would win the elections in all the territories
Palestinians. Abbas, the incumbent leader, was recognized by the
international community, while Obama, who became President of the United
States, asked Prime Minister Netanyahu, in vain, to stop any extension
of settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories; but it was a
cosmetic attitude, because in February 2011 the United States vetoed a
UN resolution calling for the condemnation of illegal settlements,
considering the fact that the population of which in July 2014 had grown
to 'amount of 140,000 Jewish settlers in the West Bank and another
200,000 in East Jerusalem.

After the stalemate in the peace process, following the failure of the
last round of direct negotiations with Israel in 2010, Abbas decided to
change tactics and try to obtain broader international recognition of
the State of Palestine, so as to put more pressure on Israel. The
attempt to promote a Security Council resolution failed, because the
United States vetoed its approval, but the following year it was
accepted and voted by 138 countries with 9 against and 41 abstentions,
recognizing Palestine as the " and "non-member state" of the UN. In
response, a new military operation was launched by Israel with air
strikes against Hamas in the Gaza Strip for a week in November 2012;
more than 100 Palestinians and 6 Israelis were killed. As the war
between Gaza and Israel continues, the PLO and Israel negotiate
fruitlessly; this led to the recomposition of relations between the
Palestinians for the formation of a government of national unity.

On 8 July 2014, a clash began on the Gaza front which lasted for 51
days, causing 2,136 Palestinian deaths, mostly children, and 69 Israelis
as well as 11,000 injuries: yet another resolution calls for the end of
the occupation, the return to the borders of 1967 and the creation of
the two States but it is not approved. We will have to wait for
resolution 2334 of 23 December 2016 for it to be reiterated that any
solution to the problem passes through negotiation and the creation of
two states. On May 4, 2019, a heavy rocket attack by the military wing
of Hamas hit the towns surrounding the Strip in southern Israel, during
the religious holidays of Shabb.

Retracing the alternation of periods of truce and attacks by the two
parties, it would seem possible to conclude that from 2005 to today a
game has been played between the Netanyahu government and the
Palestinians in Gaza in which both contenders have found their
advantage, not without doing mutual favors. Netanyahu has been able to
govern uninterruptedly, caressing his fundamentalist Zionist allies,
represented in his government by religious and fundamentalist parties,
supporting their policy of expansion of settlements in the West Bank,
guaranteed and supervised by the army which has issued administrative
detention measures without trial, whenever he deemed it necessary, to
block the protests against land expropriations, house demolitions,
continuous harassment of the Palestinians of the West Bank, who are also
excluded from being able to access jobs and professions not approved by
the occupying authority, having to limit themselves to attendance of
study courses deemed not useful for the Israeli economy. In this way the
Palestinian National Authority has continued to discredit itself,
overwhelmed by dishonesty, theft and the progressive aging of its
increasingly tired leadership. On the Gaza front, Netanyahu has
developed a policy of granting visas to Palestinian workers from Gaza,
functional to Israel's economy, allowing them to access Israeli
territory through well-identified crossings every day to carry out their
activities.

But he went further, proposing and interceding with the Qatari
authorities, through the United States which has its largest base in the
Middle East in the country, to grant hospitality to the political
representation of Hamas, recalling the role played by Qatar in 'host US
negotiations with the Taliban to withdraw from Afghanistan.

For its part, Qatar, in the name of the Muslim Brotherhood and common
belonging to the Arab-Islamic world, of sharing the struggle of the
Palestinian people, with the consent of the United States and Israel,
has publicly and notoriously taken on the task of financing the
administration of Gaza , which - from its point of view - made good use
of this funding, starting the planning of the construction of a
fortified city, made up of tunnels at various levels under the city of
Gaza, so that it could act as a base to contain and prepare their
militias for the assault on Israel, in the belief that only military
conflict could be decisive for the Palestinian question.

Netanyahu and Israel, trusting in technology, have built a highly
technological fence around Gaza, managed by artificial intelligence
which has failed in its protection task in the face of the creativity,
primitiveness, simplicity of the assault vehicles used and the methods
of war adopted, allowing a horrible massacre that took by surprise the
inhabitants of the kibbutzim located on the border and the unwary young
people engaged in a party.

All this was possible thanks to the fact that Netanyahu is a function of
Hamas and that Hamas is a function of Netanyahu. In other words, the two
extremisms, the fundamentalist Israeli one and the fundamentalist
Palestinian one, support each other, having chosen war rather than
dialogue, peace and coexistence. It is no coincidence that the attack
operation by Hamas was launched when the relations established on the
basis of the Abraham talks were about to come to an end, which aimed at
the compatibilities and economic interests that unite Israel, the Arab
states and their respective oligarchies in common business.

All this should have happened by erasing the Palestinians, sacrificed on
the altars of profit: one of the most infamous crimes in history was
unleashed against this project, which was followed by a criminal carnage
of the population of Gaza which still continues and who knows for how long.

But there's more, what happened perverted the consciences of both the
Israeli and Palestinian populations, forcing the former to kill in
defense and unleashing violence especially on that part of it that
expressed pacifist positions, requests for peace and coexistence and has
made the Palestinian population a hostage of the most obtuse and vulgar
fundamentalism that the Islamic world and the Arab populations know,
pushing them back into a dark period in their history and evolution.

Israel can never be forgiven for the crime of having given rise to and
nourished Islamic fundamentalism in the cradle, transforming a people's
national liberation struggle into a clash between religions, between
ethnic groups, between civilizations and cultural traditions, in order
not to recognize their identity and take away their land and the
Palestinians for having fallen into the trap, becoming in the eyes of
the West the plastic and visible representation of the degradation of
all humanity.
