For several days several university establishments, later joined by
several high schools, have been moving in solidarity with Gaza. It
started with Sciences Po Paris and the management's bans on the
establishment of a debate. Then with the Sorbonne which was busy this
Tuesday May 7. Furthermore, the multiple bans placed on Rima Hassan
despite court decisions in her favor have ignited the situation, with
Palestinian students and activists denouncing censorship and an
authoritarian drift.
The student movement first began in American universities and then
spread throughout the world. The students denounce, among other things,
the media treatment of the ongoing genocide, the cooperation of their
faculties with Israeli universities and the deliveries of weapons to the
Zionist state, guilty of apartheid and genocide, which has very recently
decided to attack Rafah and evacuate the population. Of course, the main
issue is the ceasefire.
The government and media response to the student protest has ignited the
situation; a whole part of the population can no longer tolerate the
harmful climate on the Palestinian question and the repressive drift.
The suspension of comedian Guillaume Meurice by the management of France
Inter also increased tension and Radio France employees announced a
strike for May 12 in defense of freedom of expression, against the
repression of management and also on salary demands.
Here is a month of May which promises to be under the auspices of the
contestation of State authoritarianism and in a social climate itself
explosive: Let us recall inflation, let us recall what the government is
preparing for unemployment insurance, let us recall that regarding the
educational question the establishments of Seine Saint Denis have
themselves been in motion since the end of March, let us remember that
the anger at the theft of two years of life with the pension reform has
never subsided! Neither does the anger following the death of Nahel as
well as the repression of the Sainte Soline activists! These young
people on the move are the same ones who stood up against sexual and
gender-based violence, against police crimes, for climate justice and
last year also to defend our pensions. We have many reasons to be
exasperated given the social, warlike and climatic disaster future that
awaits us, and it is to our honor, the honor of our class, to stand up
today against impunity for the Palestinian genocide!
So let's give them a May 24 that they will remember, let's put
international and anti-colonial solidarity at the forefront, call for
the convergence of struggles against state authoritarianism!
Remember that union activists themselves are worried and even condemned
for their support for Palestine, such as the CGT activist from the North
Jean-Paul Delescaut sentenced to a one-year suspended prison sentence.
We call on the entire social movement to stand in solidarity with
students and high school students in their struggles!
We call on the unions to join the fight and call for all strikes like
the one taking place at Radio France to be extended.
We already condemn the repression of the movement by the police.
Stop authoritarianism and political repression of Palestinian activists!
Stop sending weapons to the genocidal government of Israel!
Stop apartheid and colonization! Permanent and unconditional cease fire!
Palestine will live Palestine Will conquer!
