May Day ---- May Day demonstrations took place all over the world this
past week. This holiday reminds us of the importance of class struggle
and, in general, the importance of fighting for our rights. If you don't
defend yourself and your ideas, they will inevitably be trampled and
kicked under the canopy of history, pretending that your ideas and you
never existed. And this is what is important to remember on May 1st.
Associations with the proletariat and the bourgeoisie are mixed and
sometimes overlap with what worries us today. The history of the past
struggle stands next to the books that we are now writing together.
There are quite a lot of confrontations with the police, and some of us
participated and are participating in some of them. For example, in
Georgia at protests against the law on foreign agents.
Protests in Georgia
Georgians are protesting against the law on foreign agents and are
organizing themselves in this fight. Many of our comrades and comrades
help in any way they can.
Quite a lot of anarchists and anarchists left Russia due to repression
or the threat of mobilization. For us there is no concept of
"fatherland" and "not our business." Any injustice is something worth
fighting. Yes, we have enough comrades all over the planet, and since
many of us find ourselves in other realities, we need to establish
communication with the locals and help them in their struggle. All this
knowledge will be useful to us in our confrontation with the Russian
death machine in the future. After all, despite everything, we all have
friends, family and land that remains under the yoke of the state.
The fight against infill development
In Irkutsk, near the polytechnic, right next to the kindergarten, they
began to build a high-rise building for polytechnic workers. Local
residents write appeals to the prosecutor's office, collect signatures,
and appeal to the governor and president. We know, yes, we think, and
they know that this does not help. In particular, in Irkutsk, where
developers are as closely connected with the ruling party as possible.
And even more so if it concerns the polytechnic, which is maximally
loyal to the leadership of the region.
We always hope that signatures and appeals will help, but the reality is
often harsher.
Fires in Transbaikalia
Many people have written about the flood in Orsk, but floods are
traditional incidents for the Irkutsk region and Transbaikalia. And
often Siberia is burning on one side and drowning on the other.
So fires are still raging in Transbaikalia. In the Chita region, a dacha
cooperative almost completely burned out, 30 out of 50 buildings were
damaged; in comments to the news about the fire, local residents write
that firefighters arrived 4 hours after the call and noted their
"disgusting work." There, in the Chita region, on May 1, 200 hectares of
forest burned. In the first case, the cause was the overlap of wires on
power lines; in the second, the reasons are unknown.
It has long been obvious that fires in Siberia are a systemic problem
that the state is simply unable to solve. Moreover, in addition to
natural causes, mass fires are often caused by attempts by "black"
loggers, protected by local authorities, to hide illegal logging.
You and I must remember the importance of fighting for our rights. Don't
turn a blind eye to minor problems and be close to those who need help
in their struggle. Be it comrades in distant countries, or neighbors.
Such small confrontations allow you to be heard and not lose touch with
others.
Yes, today tear gas, smoke from wildfires and the feeling of
helplessness in the fight against developers bring us to tears. But
let's do everything possible so that our children and the children of
our neighbors live better than we live today.
Well that's all for today! We remind you that in Trends in Order and
Chaos, members of Autonomous Action and other authors give anarchist
assessments of current events. Listen to us on YouTube, SoundCloud and
other platforms, visit our website avtonom.org, subscribe to our social
networks and e-mail newsletter.
