That’s why we’re introducing Summer & THE CITY, a weekly newsletter guide to help you enjoy — and survive — the hottest months in the five boroughs.

Each week, we’ll share stories about the people who help create summertime fun in New York, plus tips on how to stay safe and cool — and let loose in the sunshine. It will arrive in your inbox Wednesdays at 1 p.m., from the week before Memorial Day until the week after Labor Day.

I’m Katie Honan, a senior reporter at THE CITY since 2021 who usually covers government and politics. But I also grew up on the beach, in Rockaway Park, with a passion for the water and a hope every year that I’ll have the best summer ever. I’ll be anchoring the newsletter with help from my colleagues, sharing my summer thoughts and know-how from a lifetime of living in New York.
