WORLD WORLDWIDE EUROPE CZECH - news journal UPDATE - (en) Czech, Ostrava, AF: Review: CASák No. 2 - Prague group CAS has again published its local magazine. We bring you a review. (ca, de, it, pt, tr)[machine translation]

The topic of the second issue of CASák is mainly antimilitarism. The
magazine is featured with a very high-quality article criticizing NATO,
in which the crimes of this organization are recalled. At a time when
other anarchist collectives are correctly silent about the dark history
of NATO, such a text is twice as important. However, the author often
makes somewhat misleading claims. For example, in the article
"Anarchists against the defense treaty with the USA" they write that
"the Russian army was not able to capture Kharkiv, which is only 34
kilometers from its borders", thus indicating that Russia is weak and
the media only scares it. However, they no longer mention that Russia is
facing the most modern weapons supplied by NATO countries in the
occupied territories. If it weren't for them, the Russian flag would
have flown over Kyiv a long time ago. We mustn't forget that Russia
jumped on the war economy at the same time, which in practice means that
their factories are churning out one tank after another at the front.

In the section "From home" there is an informative article about the
funding of lunches in schools, but the rest of the articles are repeated
flaming statements (here against "war mongers", now against "the
gluttony of the rich"). Similarly, one clearly worded article would have
sufficed on the topic of "boycotting elections", instead there are four
texts whose arguments are repeated several times.

Inspirational texts appear in the history and theory section, especially
Colin O'Malley's article, Václav Reticky's Anarchist Communism, on the
other hand, looks like it was cut out of a Zádruhy brochure. This time
the magazine also featured an interview, specifically with the scientist
Clara Mattei, it's a shame that it was an adapted text, an exclusive
interview would certainly increase the readership of CASák. An excellent
contribution to antimilitarism in the form of a concrete example of the
failure of military conflict resolution is the article on the NATO
debacle in Afghanistan.

All in all, CASák is getting better and better. The graphic visual is
clearer, the texts touch on the current poverty of the underprivileged
and class contradictions in the Czech environment. We lack this focus.
If we leave aside the collectives with a specific agenda (SdruŽeny, Food
not Bombs, etc.), the traditional AF focuses more on finding ammunition
and collection for SUVs than on the fact that people under Violet's
government do not have food, medicine or rent to pay at the end of the
month . On the other hand, the style of the magazine can be criticized.
It is obvious that the entire magazine is made by one person, whose
style is as if cut out of a leaflet from the end of the 19th century.
Even though the now obsolete term "youth", which CAS aims its propaganda
at, often appears in the texts, such a way of communication is somewhat
incomprehensible to young people.
