WORLD WORLDWIDE EUROPE CZECH - news journal UPDATE - (en) Czech, AFED: Statelessness. From the history of the anarchist movement in Bulgaria (ca, de, it, pt, tr)[machine translation]

We present another new book published on the occasion of the anarchist

"book fair" in Prague. ---- We continue to present the book novelties
prepared by the Anarchist Federation Publishing House on the occasion of
the 11th annual Prague Anarchist Book Festival, which takes place on the
weekend of May 25 and 26. In addition to the new books published in
honor of Václav Tomek and Charlotte Wilson, you will also find a
publication dedicated to the history of the anarchist movement in
Bulgaria called Bezvlastie at our stand.
The history of the anarchist movement in Bulgaria is very rich, but
almost unknown in our country. The Bezvlastie anthology tries to fix
that. It describes the growth of the Bulgarian anarchist movement and
its struggles, as well as the persecution it was subjected to - the most
destructive of which was directed by the Bolsheviks.

The publication was created at the instigation of our friend, who you
may know under the name Anarchoctenár as the operator of the blog
Cernorudý cetánský deník. It is true that his original proposal for a
brochure was lying in our publishing house for a while, but after the
realization of other plans we were able to rush into it with full
commitment. And the work was really joyful, because the richness of the
history of the Bulgarian anarchist movement brought us new and new
insights and stories. We are more than certain that if we wanted to
treat the topic in a really broad and exhaustive way, then we would
spend several years preparing a whole series of books and do nothing else.

From mutual cooperation, a collection was created, which for the most
part also introduces the fate of a number of local anarchists, who were
nicknamed the propertyless. This designation, derived from the word
"governmentlessness", inspired us to name the entire publication. In the
end, we also invited Ondrej Slacálek to cooperate, who prepared a very
interesting interview with Javor Tarinski, who is the co-founder of the
Greek anarchist website and publishing house Auftoleksi and has been
devoted to the history of Bulgarian anarchism for a long time.

Anarchoctenár originally prepared as an introduction to the topic a
translation by Nick Heath, which he publishes on the well-known website
libcom.org. In the end, however, we replaced it with more comprehensive
texts, on the one hand by George Khadziev, who is also known under the
pseudonym Georges Balkanski) and then by the historian Vadim Damier.
Individual portraits represent a separate chapter. We relied mainly on
three main sources: on the one hand, from the French and Russian
translation of G. Khadzhiev's book, then from articles on the website of
the Bulgarian Anarchist Federation www.anarchy.bg (most of the
historical contributions were written by Marin Karaivanov, some under
the pseudonym Makar) and also from articles by Nick Heath at "libcom".
Jack Grancharoff's report from the 1993 Bulgarian Anarchist Conference
is added to the collection, along with an interview with this
interesting figure in both the Bulgarian and (after his emigration)
Australian anarchist movements. One of the core texts of the anthology
is a text about the fate of Aleksandar Nakov, which was retold by
Anarchoctenár based on the book File of the subject number 1218: the
story of a Bulgarian anarchist. We have not forgotten the pictorial
appendix with portraits of most anarchists, to whom separate medallions
are dedicated in the publication.
