The Czechoslovak Anarchist Association (CAS) expresses solidarity and
support for all the thousands of Ukrainian men who are avoiding
mobilization and being taken to the front by hiding in the West.
According to estimates, there are 750,000 Ukrainians who refuse to
enlist in the EU. There are 94,643 men aged 18 to 65 in the Czech
Republic who have temporary protection in connection with the war in
Ukraine and are subject to mobilization. As anarchists, we understand
very well this huge army of military deniers not to die in the war of
the powerful to advance the imperialist interests of the West (US and
EU) on one side and the East (Russia and China) on the other. None of us
can be forced against our will to take up arms and be forcibly taken
away as cannon fodder!
Ukrainian politicians and the government are running out of cannon
fodder, and the country's foreign minister, Dmytro Kuleb, doesn't like
how many fighting men are abroad. However, the unwillingness to fight is
becoming more and more common among working people and in Ukraine
itself. The statesmen of Poland and Lithuania have already declared that
they are ready to help Ukraine with the return of these persons. Czech
Foreign Minister Jan Lipavský (Pirates) stated that the Czech Republic
does not support those who try to avoid the statutory levy obligation.
TOP 09 joined SPD and ANO. He wants to return fighting-capable
Ukrainians against their will. TOP 09 wants to open the issue of
returning combat-capable men to Ukraine at the next meeting of the
coalition. After more than two years of war in Ukraine, TOP 09 MP Ondrej
Kolár, son of Petr Kolár, adviser to President Petr Pavl, came up with it.
Minister of the Interior Vít Rakushan[STAN]confirmed that the coalition
is discussing with the opposition parties the amendment of the
regulation called Lex Ukraine. However, according to him, the return of
fighting-capable Ukrainians to Ukraine is far from being as easy as it
might seem at first glance due to international law. "If people are
already in the EU and have not committed a crime there, the possibility
of returning is small," said the Austrian, adding: "At this moment,
repatriation due to violation of military service in another country is
simply not possible."
As anarchists, we protest against the actions of Czech and world
politicians who are trying to prolong the war instead of trying to end
the death of thousands more in a senseless geopolitical war and
negotiate a ceasefire and peace! We are protesting against the actions
of the Ukrainian government, which never cared about the workers and
would now send them to the frontline slaughterhouse against their will.
Let's support all deserters (Russian and Ukrainian) and those refusing
mobilization. Let us respect the conscience of everyone who chooses not
to take up arms, not to fight and save their lives for themselves and
their families. Our lives are more than the interests of states,
homeland and capital!
If the politicians and the rich want to go to war, let them put on their
uniforms and go to the front!
