On Sunday 2 June we met at the Anarchist Space 19 July in via Rocco da
Cesinale 18 in Garbatella starting from 12:00 with a solidarity lunch
and from the early afternoon there were various artistic interventions.
In contrast to the fictitious nationalist and warmongering propaganda
that once again animated the military parade on June 2nd in Rome, we
wanted to express our opposition to the ongoing wars and the
militarization of neighborhoods. In fact, we are witnessing their
increase which is going hand in hand with the closure of necessary
services such as health clinics, clinics, libraries, cultural centers
etc. The repression and evictions of social and living spaces in our
city is another of the fundamental points of how social needs that are
mistakenly considered solely of "public order" are being managed. The
same spaces of freedom are managed with complaints and administrative
and criminal sanctions. Deserting wars, demilitarizing territories,
taking back spaces of freedom and demanding social needs such as
healthcare, education, income, housing for all have become indispensable!
We started with the solidarity lunch to sign up to say No to the
eviction of the Anarchist Space 19 July postponed to Thursday 20 June by
the management of Ater Roma (former public housing institute), a
regional body which to date, despite the protests of recent months, does
not revoked the public force's request. Headquarters of the anarchist
group C. Cafiero FAI Rome, the space, in addition to hosting book
presentations, conventions, conferences, self-managed workshops and film
clubs, contains a substantial part of the Fabio Iacopucci popular
library and the historical archive of the club present in the
neighborhood since June 1945.
This was followed by the ZDM performances, DeMilitarized Zone, a
symbolic action that declared the area demilitarized and the Disarmed
Embrace which involved the public through a shared action.
This was followed by the musical chain redefined as a completely
different parade! Ours was an alternative to the military parade with
the words, music and voice of MR Paganini Lalla Bertolini, Gianluca
Bernardo, Eleonora Gatto Cugini, Mille Papaveri Rossi in Rome and
surprisingly other musicians who gave voice brought their contribution
to their anti-war songs up to Boris Vian's Deserter. There were other
protest initiatives at the military parade in the city such as the
anti-war demonstration in Piazza S. Cosimato and the action of Ultima
Generazione which attempted the challenge of stopping the President of
the Republic's car. Despite the bad weather, the day ended in the
evening with the hope of meeting again for new anti-militarist
initiatives, songs and spaces of freedom. In fact, ours was a completely
different parade!
