Good morning,

It's EUCO week! But before EU leaders come to Brussels on Thursday and Friday, EU foreign affairs ministers are gathering in Luxembourg today to hold talks about the war in Ukraine and the Middle East, alongside ongoing developments in GeorgiaMoldovaAzerbaijan and the Horn of Africa.

Despite the packed agenda, all eyes will be on the EU's response to Iran's recent attack on Israel, also in the context of Iran's ongoing military support to Russia. According to diplomatic sources, visa-bans and asset-freezes could be imposed on seven people and seven entities, including IranAir.

Meanwhile, EU ministers and MEPs from the environment committee will meet to debate the European Commission’s proposal to delay the implementation of a landmark law aimed at reducing Europe’s role in global deforestation. The delay follows strong lobbying from the centre-right European People’s Party (EPP), industries, and countries affected. For more background, check out Benjamin Fox's piece from last month.
