Published by Éditions des Bricoles, a label of Goater editions, Hyperjeu
is a collective work by La Faction. In the direct line of situationism,this text places itself as a critique of the society of the spectacle
and develops the Dionysian proposition of using "our inexhaustible
resources of inventiveness to circumvent the continual tactical updates
of our adversaries". ---- The "intrinsically playful nature of market
capitalism" leads society into gamification where each person is forced
to fulfill a role - of spectator, player, hyperplayer. La Faction
highlights these latter, as well as their means to subvert gamification.
The book is set in an imaginary reality where militant struggles would
have invested both the creativity of illegalist practices, legal
"counter-kems", humor and philosophical narrative. It is structured
around the fictional testimonies of those who are not "tired of
fighting", but "exhausted from begging for a little equality, by
moralizing others and incriminating them", revolted by "this adult who
pushes each of us to accept the world as it is".
The reader is invited to question his or her alienation which makes him
or her accept that "a person's life" is worth "literally less than the
purchase of a watch", to take imaginary paths to escape from his or her
condition as a spectator and create a form of activism by reversing the
rules of the capitalist game that are imposed on us, to aspire to become
the fairies who will lead to the "stock breaking" of misery.
Hyperjeu is the magical realism of the radical left's exit from its
defensive strategy to build an offensive of the capitalist game. If you
want to escape capitalism, then make this game "indecipherable".
