WORLD WORLDWIDE FRANCE PARIS - news journal UPDATE - (en) France, UCL - Antipatriarchy - October 12: for a trans counteroffensive (ca, de, fr, it, pt, tr)[machine translation]

On October 12 in Paris, the 27th edition of Existransinter will take

place, a march demanding the rights of trans and intersex people. The
stakes are high: the law voted in May 2024 against the rights of trans
minors is only the beginning of their offensive. ---- This law, which
requires transgender minors to go through "specialized centers" approved
by the state to have access to care, greatly restricts access to puberty
blockers, which can no longer be prescribed until 2 years after the
person's first visit to one of these centers, and completely prohibits
hormonal or surgical treatments for people under 18.

In a general context of the rise of the extreme right, the government
that has just been put in place will further accentuate the danger and
trans struggles will remain more than ever a priority. We know that at
present, presenting trans and intersex people as a threat, making them
disappear and eradicate them are part of the main strategies of the
extreme right around the world. We continue to believe that it is urgent
to organize, mobilize massively and fight together, whether we are
directly concerned or not.

The fight for the rights of trans and intersex people is an
anti-patriarchal fight, but also an anti-racist one: the first victims
of transphobia are notably racialized trans women who, at the
intersection of several systems of domination (racism, ableism,
patriarchy, etc.), suffer the most intensely and are the least protected
from these repeated attacks on their existence.

The patriarchal system and its heterosexual injunctions degrade the
material conditions of existence of trans and intersex people and make
their lives unbearable: mutilation of intersex people from their first
days of life, forced sterilizations, isolation and family breakdowns,
discrimination in housing and employment, transphobic attacks in public
spaces, sexual violence, degraded or even impossible care and access to
care...

The attacks on the rights of trans and intersex people, whether they
come from the State or from far-right groups, are attacks by the
bourgeois ruling class. It seeks - through its attacks and moral panics
around transidentity - to maintain its power by perpetuating the
exploitation of our class and dividing us.

By maintaining the population within heterosexual and patriarchal norms,
it ensures that the class of women remains assigned - both in the family
and in the framework of wage labor - to domestic and reproductive work
such as giving birth and raising children, caring for individuals or
maintaining homes. Thus, the bourgeoisie and capitalists ensure that the
class of men can continue to suffer wage exploitation outside the home
every day.

This obsession with maintaining individuals in the heterosexual system
at all costs is also linked to the recent warlike, military and
"demographic rearmament" ambitions dear to the ruling class, which thus
ensures that it never runs out of cannon fodder by forcing people
capable of becoming pregnant to motherhood and reproduction. By
questioning this binary and gendered division of society and work, trans
and intersex people represent obstacles and threats to the maintenance
of this system.

The latest transphobic law was the occasion for a massive trans
counter-offensive response: in many cities, we have never seen so many
people mobilize for these rights. These demonstrations and rallies have
shown us that more and more people understand the issues and the
importance of these struggles, and give us hope: we are able to build a
balance of power to demand the improvement of living conditions and
claim the right to dignified existences.

We no longer want to count our deaths, we want to count our victories.
So everyone in the streets this Saturday, October 12: let's show them
that they will never again have the comfort of our silence! READ OUR
BROCHURE! For a Trans counter-offensive Since its founding in 2019, the
Union Communiste Libertaire has been committed to fighting transphobia.
During its 2nd congress, in November 2023 in Angers, it clarified its
analysis, its position, and the meaning of its support for trans
struggles. Available on our website and in our online store.
