Dear friends, In October, we rushed emergency aid to animal victims of war in the Middle East and Ukraine, evacuated animals affected by a devastating hurricane in the United States and provided food for hungry dogs in Montenegro as another harsh winter looms. None of our vital work would be possible without you, our supporters.  Read on to discover how Network for Animals transformed your donations into life-saving action for animals around the world. Lebanon  Rushing emergency aid to defenseless animal victims of the Middle East conflict  Intense fighting erupted in Lebanon amid the escalating conflict in the Middle East, leaving countless animals dead, trapped or displaced, with no access to food, water or medical care. We partnered with Houssein Hamze, the founder of Mashala Shelter in Nabatieh, southern Lebanon. Despite immense danger, Houssein risks his life every day, bravely venturing out into war-ravaged areas to feed and rescue countless abandoned, starving and injured animals. Emergency supplies are critically low, and with costs rising sharply, the demand for food, water and medical supplies has never been more desperate. We reached out to you for help and thanks to your generosity, we provided life-saving medical care and supplies for injured animals and funded critical feeding and rescue missions in conflict hotspots to save more animals in need.  Read the original article here. Credit: Mashala Shelter Montenegro  Providing food for hungry dogs as winter looms  As the harsh winter approaches in the Balkan country of Montenegro, 110 rescue dogs at our partner Danijela Vuksanovic’s Riki’s Shelter face the grim reality of freezing temperatures and potential starvation. With local authorities refusing point blank to honor their legal obligations regarding the animals, Danijela works tirelessly to care for the dogs, even carrying bags of food across snowy hills to reach the shelter, which is inaccessible by car once the weather turns bad. But she cannot continue this work alone.  Thanks to your support, we are close to reaching our goal, and soon we will be able to secure enough food and blankets to ensure that the dogs at Riki’s Shelter are fed and warm throughout the harsh winter months. Credit: NFA/Milos Zvicer United States  Rescuing hundreds of animals displaced by Hurricane Milton  In October, Hurricane Milton tore through Florida, leaving a path of destruction that devastated communities, claimed lives and displaced thousands. Among the hardest hit were helpless animals, left stranded and frightened in the storm's aftermath. As shelters became overwhelmed with the influx of animals, hundreds needed evacuation. Network for Animals is always there for animals in times of crisis and we partnered with Wings of Rescue, an organization that bravely flies into disaster zones to save lives.  Thanks to your unwavering generosity, we contributed towards the evacuation of 286 dogs and cats from Florida shelters to safer shelters upstate. Credit: Wings of Rescue Ukraine  Replacing a lifeline rescue vehicle to save animals on the frontlines  Recently, we shared the news that our partner, Animal Rescue Kharkiv (ARK) in Ukraine, had to halt its animal rescue missions after five of its vehicles were damaged on the frontlines. Thanks to your support, we began repairs on three of these vehicles. But the situation has now taken an even more critical turn. ARK’s most important vehicle – a sturdy van – was badly damaged in a firefight. Thankfully, our team survived, but as they attempted to tow the vehicle to safety, Russian forces destroyed the bridge they needed to cross. With no safe route left, they abandoned the vehicle. Hundreds of animals are waiting for ARK’s team to reach them, but they need a capable vehicle to navigate the nearly impassable rural roads near the frontline. The van was ideal for this task, with space to transport multiple animals safely. We reached out to you with a desperate plea to help replace the vehicle, and your generosity means we are now on the path to securing a new one. While we have not yet raised enough to fully fund the replacement vehicle, we are committed to finding a solution.  Read the original article here. Credits: ARK (left); Eyevine (right) Latest Updates Hwange, Zimbabwe – A miracle is growing in drought-stricken Zimbabwe. Our partner, Matabeleland Animal Rescue and Equine Sanctuary (MARES), planted 2,000 fast-growing, nutrient-rich moringa trees on a farm in Hwange. These trees have grown, allowing MARES to feed the 105 donkeys at its sanctuary and hundreds more in the local community, even as drought causes significant food shortages. Without your help, countless donkeys would have faced starvation – thank you for helping to save donkey lives! Read more. Credit: MARES Cape Town, South Africa – You are a hero to hundreds of vulnerable animals! Thanks to your generosity, 350 cats and dogs in the gang-ridden area of Atlantis, Cape Town, have been sterilized and vaccinated. Each vaccination protects them from deadly diseases, while each sterilization helps break the cycle of suffering by preventing more unwanted puppies and kittens from being born into harsh lives on the streets. Credit: NFA/Byron Seale East Africa and the Middle East – World Rabies Day was a massive success, and now THOUSANDS of dogs are safer than ever. Through your support, we and our partners in Tanzania, Kenya and Jordan vaccinated over 5,000 dogs against rabies. Watch the video. Credit: NFA/Byron Seale Maun, Botswana – Providing a month’s worth of food for rescue dogs. Maun Animal Welfare Society (MAWS) in Botswana strives to uplift dogs, cats and donkeys while protecting the country’s abundant wildlife wherever they can. The team currently has two rescue dogs in their care – Lucia and Molly – both of whom have made remarkable recoveries after being saved by MAWS. During a recent visit, we supplied a month of food to keep their bellies full. Read more. Credit: MAWS Greece – Animal flood victims now have a safe home, thanks to YOU! Last year, the Evi Thanou Shelter in Greece was devastated by floods, forcing the evacuation of all 65 dogs in their care. Thanks to our generous donors, we funded the construction of new enclosures after the original structures were destroyed. Despite many challenges in the aftermath, we’re thrilled to announce that the project is now complete! Read more. Credit: Evi Thanou Shelter Ukraine – Over 400 animals protected from life-threatening diseases. Thanks to a generous grant from a single NFA donor, our partner, NOWZAD, recently vaccinated and sterilized 411 cats and dogs in Kramatorsk, Yuzhnoukrainsk and Kherson. This has improved the health of hundreds of animals, prevented thousands more from being born into lives of hardship, and played a crucial role in controlling the spread of rabies – a growing public health concern since the war began. Read more. Credit: NOWZAD Kenya – Saving lives this #WorldAnimalDay! On World Animal Day, the NFA team launched a critical sterilization campaign for cats on Pate Island in Lamu, Kenya. In a single day, local vets sterilized 100 cats, with a goal of 400 more in the coming days. But that’s not all!
