Save a Life Today - Help SARA’s 900 Dogs and Cats live safe and healthy lives

Dear friends,

At Sunshine Animal Refuge Agadir (SARA), we tirelessly work to provide a safe haven for nearly 900 street dogs and over 180 cats, all rescued from the brink of starvation and suffering. Operating without government funding, our mission depends on compassionate individuals like you. With your support, we aim to continue our positive work toward a better, safer future for these animals. But today, we are facing a critical challenge.

The Challenge We Face:

Since 2020, SARA has been a lifeline for the animals of Agadir. In a region where street dogs are often culled or left to suffer, we are the only organization actively permitted to aid those held in the Agadir dog pound. Without our help, many would starve, suffer abuse, or worse. Every month, we deliver $3,000 worth of food to sustain these dogs and employ extra staff to ensure their welfare.

But our resources are stretched thin, with over 1,200 animals to care for and the mounting costs of food, medical care, sterilization, and vaccinations. Each rescued animal requires immediate care—an average cost of $100 per dog—which includes sterilization, deworming, and microchipping.

Odin’s Journey: From Pain to Hope

When Odin arrived at Sunshine Animal Refuge Agadir (SARA) on September 13th, he was a picture of agony—unable to stand, with a severe head wound and a heart-wrenching cry at every touch. He was so frail that we had to feed him by hand, hoping against hope that he would find the strength to fight through the pain.

Miraculously, just three days later, Odin opened one eye and took his first bites on his own. The swelling subsided, and with each passing day, his courage shone brighter. By September 26th, he was walking, eating eagerly, and wagging his tail, seeking love and attention. The joy in his eyes replaced the pain, and his wound healed, revealing the brave, playful puppy beneath.

Odin’s recovery was nothing short of miraculous and only possible because of the kindness of supporters like you. His story is a testament to the power of compassion, showing how your generosity can give suffering animals a new lease on life. But there are countless other Odins waiting for their chance—please help us continue this vital work.

We Still Need Your Help:

Four days ago, we shared our urgent need for dog food. Unfortunately, we are still struggling to gather enough funds to maintain our daily feeding needs for over 900 dogs. This ongoing challenge affects the delicate balance of our operations—every dollar counts in keeping these animals nourished and safe. Your contribution, no matter how small, can ensure that dogs like Odin have the chance to live a life free from suffering.

Long-Term Goals and the Path Forward:

Our long-term vision involves implementing a humane TNVR (trap-neuter-vaccinate-return) program with local authorities to control the street dog population and eradicate rabies. However, until this plan becomes reality, we need your support to keep going. SARA is committed to creating a sustainable, compassionate solution for all street animals in Agadir, but we cannot do this without your help.

Your support helps us sustain not only the dogs and cats in our care but also the countless street animals who need us. Whether it’s $7 for a dog bed, $10 to feed a dog for a month, or more to cover vital medical care and sterilization, every contribution makes a real difference. Together, we can continue to protect and nurture the voiceless animals who depend on us.
