More police persecution, filing and expulsion orders for those who
demonstrate in Bolzano. ---- The political persecution of demonstratorsand activists by the Police Commissioner Paolo Sartori does not stop,
and it is enriched with new chapters that are increasingly disturbing
and Kafkaesque. ---- In the peripheral city of Bolzano, for some months
now the Police Commissioner and the political police have been setting
up a real political persecution against dissent, submerging
demonstrators and activists with preventive measures, reports and filing
those who demonstrate. In numerous cases, demonstrations have been
limited by the same person with heavy prescriptions and sometimes with bans.
What is happening cannot be explained only by the extent of the actions
carried out, given that in the vast majority of cases the reports and
preventive measures have arrived for unannounced demonstrations (which
the Police Commissioner, together with journalists, continues to define
as "unauthorized" or even illegal). It is now clear that Sartori, with
these draconian repressive measures, intends to strike ideas, the
rejection of militarism and war, the fight against the exploitation of
man and the environment, systemic racism and war propaganda. What
Sartori wants to strike is the tension of those who persist in fighting
and publicly denouncing the misdeeds of power, refusing war on the poor.
Any careful observer cannot have missed the fact that the Police Chief,
with the systematic persecution of the poor and political dissidents, is
in fact the interpreter and promoter of the political line of the
Government and the Province with the councilors Ulli Mair and Marco
Galateo at the head but without forgetting the showman Urzí.
A political-police line that seeks easy consensus through the beatings
inflicted on the poorest and most marginal sectors of the city; in any
case, those who have no money and power. And here too the synergy with
the media apparatus of the Athesia group, de facto holder of the
monopoly of information in the Province and therefore of the
construction of reality and its perception by citizens, is strong.
Sartori's persecutory attitude has over the months transformed into a
real violent and intimidating obsession that does not give up any tool
in order to assert the weight of its power. An authoritarian behavior
that, although it does not cause particular surprise among those who
have actively participated in social and political struggles for years,
on the other hand must be publicly denounced with force, because it
concerns everyone.
Sartori's conduct is violent, ruthless and criminalizing against
marginalized people, the poor and political dissidents, considered by
him (and by his main political referents) as threats to public order and
tranquility. Internal enemies without any political protection against
whom he feels entitled to do what he wants by resorting to tools that
would never be used to fight white-collar crimes, systemic corruption or
for example fraud by parties like Salvini's League, which pocketed 49
million euros. Functional tools for the war on the poor and dissent.
In the case of Bolzano, Sartori goes further by distributing showers of
complaints and preventive measures for facts that are not even legible
as crimes unless one wants to consider the free expression of dissent in
a more or less spontaneous manner as a crime.
In recent weeks, the repressive fury has continued to take on
increasingly heavy and disturbing contours (in the silence of the main
media, completely subservient and a megaphone of real lies) and that
should worry anyone with a minimum of historical memory and political
awareness. On November 14, during the protest against the visit of the
Minister of the Interior Piantedosi to the NOI, a protester was stopped
by agents of the political police and taken to the Police Headquarters,
where she was registered. The event, as many people remember, is
unprecedented in recent decades.
We have seen on several occasions how one of the characteristic traits
of the Sartori management is a maniacal attention to communication and
his intolerance towards criticism. In fact, he, annoyed by the fact that
Salto is not uncritically aligned with the version of the Police
Headquarters like Alto Adige or Dolomiten, wanted to integrate the
article in which the protester expressed her concerns about the incident.
A few days after the fact, the note from the Police Chief appeared in
the online article, which, regarding the incident, was keen to point
out: "the woman in question, a long-time activist in the Bolzano
anarchist insurrectionist movement, was not only sanctioned for
violating article 663 bis of the Criminal Code, but was also reported to
the Public Prosecutor's Office as co-organizer of an illegal
demonstration, not announced pursuant to article 18 of the TULPS.
Demonstration during which, moreover, she distributed other flyers". We
believe that these words speak for themselves and convey the problematic
personality of a man who sees any form of real dissent as smoke in the
eyes, going so far as to publicly state that he reported a person to the
judicial authorities for having distributed or posted flyers. Speaking
of the criminal law of the enemy and the attempt to build a sort of
"folk devil", it is indicative that Sartori was keen to point out that
the woman in question is an activist of what he calls the "anarchist
insurrectionist movement of Bolzano", which is also a lie, one of the
many he writes and subscribes to, knowingly or not.
In recent weeks, the Police Chief's filing of dissent has continued
following a spontaneous protest by two comrades at the initiative
organized by FIDAPA (Italian Federation of Women in the Arts,
Professions and Business) on November 27. After displaying a critical
placard, they were stopped and taken to the Police Headquarters, where
they were reported for "violation of Article 18 of the TULPS".
In recent days, the latest wave of expulsion orders from Merano has
finally arrived, relating to a demonstration (which in fact never took
place) in front of the hospital to protest the anti-abortion prayers of
the so-called Bewegung fuer das Leben. Here too, Sartori peppers the
motivation for the expulsion orders with personal reflections (which
occupy considerable space in all the provisions) that are unfounded, in
which he pushes himself to talk about things he does not know and has no
expertise in, formulating value judgments that he has no right to make.
Acts of state persecution that affect family and human affections and
that intend to bend people, ideas and human and political paths of struggle.
Repression is Sartori's vaccine for young rebels, for those who still
have a shred of critical thinking, for those who still do not resign
themselves to living in a world where wars and genocides are normal.
Repression is Sartori's civilization.
It is truly impressive to read these documents with which the Police
Chief strikes with extreme violence at the lives of political militants
and protesters who, faced with an era in which wars and genocides are
normalized, decide to organize themselves to oppose this drift.
Faced with the Sartori method and this disproportionate violence of the
Police Headquarters, it is essential to react by building solidarity.
Where they would like to isolate, intimidate and repress the duty of
everyone who has at heart the ideals of justice and freedom is to
continue to fight, without leaving anyone behind, against the
normalization of war and genocide, against the normalization of the
repression of dissent, against the drift towards the police state of
which the action of the Police Chief of Bolzano - ruthless with the weak
and weak with the powerful - is a dangerous anticipation.
