The impetuous rise of Chinese capitalism is disrupting the geopolitical
balance of old imperialisms. When the bourgeoisies decide to engage inopen economic warfare, the specter of major military conflicts looms
larger. But it is always the proletarians who die for the arms dealers
and shareholder dividends. We will be neither cannon fodder nor boss
fodder! War costs us dearly! The globalization of the capitalist economy
has always relied on military power: territorial conquests, slavery,
colonialism, with alternating phases of war of varying intensity. In
2023, global arms spending increased by 6.8% compared to 2022, reaching
$2,443 billion. For Europe, an 800 billion plan is being discussed. In
France, for a current budget of around 50 billion (not including
military pensions), Macron is talking about a budget increase of 40
billion. But the increase from 2.3% of GDP devoted to the armed forces
to the envisaged 5% would amount to an increase of 80 billion!
Reinforced austerity: Habemus Bayrou! Enmeshed in scandals of brutality
and sexual violence in Catholic schools, the Bayrou government and the
deputies of the "central bloc" are vying with each other with dangerous
projects: 40 billion must be saved (coincidence?) for the 2026 budget.
Increased working hours, elimination of the 10% tax deduction for
retirees. The so-called "economic simplification" law combines the
destruction of environmental standards with major setbacks to the labor
code: CSE (Works Council for Collective Agreements) for companies with
250 or more employees, five years of exemptions from collective
bargaining agreements for new companies with fewer than 50 employees. A
conference on pensions to expand the use of capitalization. A crackdown
on local authorities, hospitals, schools, universities, and more.

Social revolution as the only perspective. While the exacerbated
rivalries between left-wing parties are destroying the last electoral
illusions, the time has come for direct action by the world of work and
youth, supported by the building of our unions and militant
associations: feminists, anti-racists, environmentalists, and
anti-fascists. Faced with the defeat of "left-wing" politicians, the
prospect of a general strike to expropriate property is ultimately no
more utopian than an NFP government that keeps its promises! For a
communist society and a self-managed democracy, May 1st is a good day to
strengthen the Libertarian Communist Union.
