This week at The Toots

Cette semaine au Toots, hauts les cœurs : c’est la fête de la musique tous les jours ! Mercredi, Armando Luongo ouvre la Jam avec son swag éternel. Jeudi, c’est la Super Swing Juke Night Party !! Avec Mathieu Najean, les danseurs sont les bienvenus : un espace sera dégagé devant le sextet de feu qui jouera une sélection d’arrangements aux petits oignons. Vendredi, Basile Rahola présente son dernier album avec Wajdi Riahi, Matthias Van den Branden et Pierre Hurty. Le top du jazz moderne avec des musiciens à la complémentarité palpable. La late sera ouverte par Géraud Portal, accompagné des jeunes et incroyablement talentueux Hugo Lobo au piano et Gabriel Moraes à la batterie. Samedi, soirée jazz manouche avec Renaud Crols ! La musique de Django Reinhardt sera à l’honneur toute la nuit avec une jam centrée sur ce répertoire. Enfin dimanche, pour notre série Nostalgia in Grand Place, Joachim Caffonnette, entouré de Géraud Portal et Armando Luongo, jouera la musique de son plus grand héros, Bill Evans, pour clôturer la semaine.   Deze week bij Toots: hou de moed erin, het is elke dag muziekfeest! Woensdag opent Armando Luongo de jam met zijn eeuwige swag. Donderdag is het tijd voor de Super Swing Juke Night Party!! Met Mathieu Najean. Dansers zijn welkom — er wordt ruimte vrijgemaakt voor het vurige sextet dat een zorgvuldig samengestelde selectie arrangementen speelt. Vrijdag stelt Basile Rahola zijn nieuwste album voor, samen met Wajdi Riahi, Matthias Van den Branden en Pierre Hurty. Topklasse moderne jazz met voelbare muzikale synergie. De late set wordt geopend door Géraud Portal, samen met de jonge en ongelooflijk getalenteerde Hugo Lobo op piano en Gabriel Moraes op drums. Zaterdag: gypsy jazzavond met Renaud Crols! De muziek van Django Reinhardt staat de hele avond centraal, met een jam rond zijn repertoire. En tenslotte zondag, in het kader van onze reeks Nostalgia in Grand Place, brengt Joachim Caffonnette — samen met Géraud Portal en Armando Luongo — een hommage aan zijn grootste held, Bill Evans, om de week af te sluiten. This week at Toots — lift your spirits, it’s a music celebration every day! Wednesday, Armando Luongo kicks off the jam with his eternal swag. Thursday, it’s the Super Swing Juke Night Party!! Featuring Mathieu Najean. Dancers are welcome — a space will be cleared in front of the fiery sextet playing a selection of finely crafted arrangements. Friday, Basile Rahola presents his latest album with Wajdi Riahi, Matthias Van den Branden, and Pierre Hurty. A top-notch modern jazz lineup with palpable musical chemistry. The late set will be opened by Géraud Portal, joined by the incredibly talented young musicians Hugo Lobo on piano and Gabriel Moraes on drums. Saturday, gypsy jazz night with Renaud Crols! Django Reinhardt’s music will be in the spotlight all night, with a jam centered on his repertoire. Finally, on Sunday, as part of our Nostalgia in Grand Place series, Joachim Caffonnette — joined by Géraud Portal and Armando Luongo — will play the music of his greatest hero, Bill Evans, to close out the week.

Expect compositions from swing legends of the 1920s to 1950s, with nods to revivalists like Wynton Marsalis. A dream night for Lindy Hop dancers. Besides being a highly sought-after sideman, he leads a popular quartet that just released a new album on the prestigious Igloo Records label.
