We had to send a special Saturday SCOOP today because: It’s time to vote!
Today and tomorrow from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. are your last chances to vote early in our local primary elections. On Monday, polls are closed. And Tuesday is procrastinators’ final option — Primary Day.
If you’re feeling lost, here are six steps to take to being an informed voter:
Join the more than 200,000 people who have taken our Meet Your Mayor quiz to see which mayoral candidates align with their own beliefs and issues.
Know where you’re going and what to expect. Find your poll site here, and remember that your early site is often different from your Primary Day site. (When you put in your address, you can also click your sample ballot to see which offices will appear.)
Now get out there and use your right — and stay cool doing it. Primary Day will happen in a heatwave. Here’s how to stay safe from the heat while voting and, yes, it’s now legal to pass out water to voters in New York.
Weather ☀️
It’s hot, hot, hot! High in the upper 80s, with a dew point (luckily) hovering in the bearable range.
MTA 🚇
There’s no C train between 145 St. and 168 St. in Upper Manhattan this weekend. Find all the MTA’s planned changes and the latest delays here.
Alternate side parking 🚙
It’s in effect today, June 21.
By the way…
The last day to apply for financial help with your cooling bill is Monday, June 23! Read more about the program in our guide on what to do when your apartment is too hot.
