Today's SCOOP is brought to you by our members.

Dear New Yorkers,

Just when you thought it might be a slow news day in our chaotic and never-ending mayor’s race.

On Wednesday it was reported by multiple outlets that President Donald Trump is trying to offer Mayor Eric Adams and Republican candidate Curtis Sliwa positions in his administration as a way to get them out of the mayor’s race.

Presumably so Trump’s old frenemy, former governor Andrew Cuomo, has a better chance at defeating Assemblymember Zohran Mamdani, whose embrace of “socialism” seems to scare big-business Republicans and even some establishment Democrats.

Adams’ campaign denied he was in talks for a federal gig:

“Don’t believe the noise,” said campaign spokesperson Todd Shapiro

(For what it’s worth, Adams made similar statements about not dropping out of the Democratic primary just days before he did, in fact, drop out of the primary.)

Sliwa, the founder of the Guardian Angels street-patrol group, also bristled at the suggestion that he would leave the fray: “[I am] interested in only one job and that is being elected mayor of NYC on Nov. 4. I am not dropping out period.”
