🎷 Cold outside, hot jazz inside 🔥

Matthieu Van "The Seventh Son" - Raw and Groovin'
vendredi 21 novembre - 19:30 and 21:30
Matthieu Van (p, voc) ; Sal La Rocca (b) ; Matthias De Waele (dr)

If there’s one hidden and far too rare talent on the Belgian jazz scene, it’s Matthieu Van. A pianist and multi-instrumentalist brimming with ideas — a true human jukebox when he gets going (and even a reggae drummer in his spare time) — he never stops surprising with his voracious musical appetite.
He’s best known as a pianist whose playing drips with the spirit of the blues, unfolding riffs as naturally as others recite the alphabet.
In his new project The Seventh Son, he revisits the world and unique style of Mose Allison, a Delta bluesman from Mississippi who, despite his white origins, made this music his own, blending it effortlessly with the vocabulary of swing and be-bop.
A sort of alter ego to Matthieu Van, when you think about it.
Here, the trio celebrates the universality of the blues with perfectly grooving music — raw, honest jazz with laid-back accents, where Allison’s ironic lyrics find a modern echo.

Igor Gehenot Quintet - Pure Jazz Energy
samedi 22 novembre - 19:30 and 21:30
Igor Gehenot (p) ; Jean-Paul Estievenart (tp) ; Steven Delanoye (sx) ; Sal La Rocca (b) ; Umberto Odone (dr)

From a very young age, the raw talent and extraordinary instinct of Igor Gehenot for the blue language of jazz propelled him into the spotlight.
At just 23, he released his debut album, which earned him the recognition of the European press and launched a career that quickly took him to clubs and festivals all over the world.
With a spontaneous style and a keen lyrical sense, he has collaborated with leading musicians and now surrounds himself with some of the finest jazzmen in the country, in the classic yet always joyful — and devilishly effective — quintet format: trumpet, tenor sax, and rhythm section.
Drawing from both famous and lesser-known pieces of the great hard-bop repertoire and from timeless standards, these five musicians guarantee a successful evening in the purest spirit of our jazz club — a generous and delicious music.

Nostalgia In Grand Place : Art Blakey - Tribute
dimanche 23 novembre - 16:00
Gabriel Moraes (dr) ; Ricardo Rosas (ts) ; Immanuel Kaljouw (tp) ; Attilio Seppe (as) ; Marco Marceletti (p)

Art Blakey is the very sound of hard bop.
With his Jazz Messengers, founded in 1953 together with Horace Silver, generations of great musicians passed through, shaping a style that combined the virtuosity of bebop with the deep swing and vibrant rhythms of Latin and Caribbean music.

From Bobby Timmons and Benny Golson to Wayne Shorter and Wynton Marsalis — through Keith Jarrett, Freddie Hubbard, and the iconic Lee Morgan — the Jazz Messengers remained for more than three decades one of the most influential groups in jazz history: joyful, energetic, and alive.

Tonight, the young and equally passionate drummer Gabriel Moraes and his bandmates pay tribute to this timeless legacy, bringing the spirit of swing and soulful intensity back to life.

Six Dreams For Free - Originals and poetic
dimanche 23 novembre - 20:00
Arnaud Cabay (dr, comp) ; Elly Brouckmans (sax) ; Timothé Lemaire (tb) ; Simon Groppe (p) ; Dario Piccioni (db)

Six Dreams for Free is a jazz quintet born from a vital impulse: the need to create in order to stay upright, free, and alive.
The compositions of Arnaud Cabay, written during the 2020 lockdown, are fragments of dreams and spaces of emancipation.
Alongside them, a few reinvented standards act as anchoring points in a journey without a map.

Arnaud surrounds himself with exceptional musicians, chosen for the depth of the artistic and human connection they share.
Together, they bring to life a jazz of many influences — organic, fluid, sincere — nourished above all by life itself and the echoes it inspires.
