 On November 15, the first day of the three-day commemoration for the

52nd anniversary of the 1973 Polytechnic uprising, early in the morning,
approximately 200 helmeted ARAS (the main political force participating
in the EAAK faction) members, with a military-style organization, lined
up in the courtyard of the Polytechnic and launched a furious, bloody,
and murderous attack on the anarchists present in the area.
Arbitrarily and abusively using the title of student associations, in
order to derive legitimacy for their actions, after first opening heads
and breaking arms outside, the thugs continued inside the MAX building,
breaking and hitting everything they found in their path, where they
trapped dozens of people, workers, students, anarchists.
The extent of the violence that was exercised and the extremes that were
carried out against the comrades, aiming at their physical integrity and
dignity, are known, and so foreign to our perception and political
culture, that their mere mention causes us disgust and hatred. The
results were approximately 20 injured with broken heads, hands, fingers,
the opening of a police file with charges of alleged fighting and the
filing of charges against injured people who had been transported to
Evangelismos and the inevitable and absolute provocation of the
three-day commemoration events as a whole.
The planning, organization and implementation of this attack by ARAS not
only had the typical characteristics of a parastatal action, but also
the targeting of such an attack. This enforcement operation with
military-style characteristics cannot but be articulated with the
overall attack of state repression both in the university areas, where
it manifests itself with disciplinary actions, expulsions, persecutions,
surveillance cameras and the targeting and attempt to expel radical,
militant projects from the asylum area, as well as more broadly in
social and class struggles. This attack was the ideal occasion for the
NTUA rectorate and the reactionary rector I. Hadjigeorgiou to announce
the revision of the entire framework of the celebration of the three-day
uprising of the Polytechnic University, a celebration whose openness and
sociability had been won by the movement for decades. This development
makes clear the role that ARAS has chosen, acting as the long arm of the
state and the rectorate authorities, striking where the forces of
repression do not reach.
Implementing the state's counter-insurgency policy and the fixed goal of
attacking anarchy, being the only political proposal that is dangerous
for the world of power.
ARAS is beyond any doubt a foreign and hostile body for the student and
overall social and class struggles, and must be faced as such. It must
be isolated from the structures of the student movement, if it wants to
escape the decline and decay into which it has fallen. The isolation and
displacement of the scoundrels from the student processes, the further
organization at the grassroots level in all faculties, the participation
in the general assemblies with the Open Frameworks, which have managed
to win significant victories within them, and the daily struggle in the
spaces where we study, live and are active is the only way to the
rebirth of a truly militant and unguarded student movement, which will
be able to stand against the plans of the state, capital and their thugs.
