The revolution in Rojava, the flame of freedom in the Middle East, is today facing an unprecedented attack. Jihadist gangs, under the leadership of the Jolani regime and with the full support of Turkey, have launched a violent offensive in Northern and Eastern Syria, with the Autonomous Administration of North-East Syria (Rojava) facing the greatest danger in its history.
The jihadists are not stopping their advance and it now appears that they have advanced deep into the territories of Rojava.After the fall of the Tishreen Dam and the Arab towns of Ayn Issa and Sirrin to the jihadist gangs, the front line has reached Kobani. The city that stopped ISIS in 2014 and was the turning point that led to ISIS's subsequent territorial defeat, is once again under siege.
The jihadist gangs of the Jolani regime are attacking the Aqtan prison in Raqqa. The goal is to free thousands of ISIS prisoners. The prison is being attacked with drones and heavy weapons. Resistance to repel the attack continues strongly. While the usual number of prisoners is around 2,500, the current number remains unknown. With more ISIS fighters escaping, the threat of ISIS terrorism has the potential to spread again throughout the region.
Yesterday's so-called ceasefire was never implemented in practice. Attacks against the SDF/YPJ as well as against society continue. The reported war crimes of the jihadist gangs range from femicide in Raqqa, to executions of captured fighters and people opposing the attacks, as well as kidnappings. The massacres committed by the Jolani regime in other parts of Syria are currently ongoing, targeting female fighters in particular. The SDF, YPJ and Internal Security Forces responded to all these attacks and the resistance continues.
In recent days, the Kurdish neighborhoods of Aleppo, Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafiya, have come under all-out attack by the Damascus Transitional Government (STG).
While the heroic resistance on multiple fronts, where thousands of residents are displaced from one area to another and the death toll is increasing, the Autonomous Administration (DAANES) declared a state of emergency and general mobilization on 18/01. The announcement officially states that the region is facing an "existential war" and calls on every citizen to take up arms for popular self-defense.
The resistance of the peoples of Northern and Eastern Syria is their inalienable right. Since July 2012, Rojava has been a living beacon standing up against capitalism, fascism and patriarchy. The Democratic Confederation project demonstrates in practice that the brotherhood of peoples, social ecology and radical feminism can exist outside the structure of the nation-state.
It is the duty of every internationalist to support this revolution by all means, blocking the plans of the invaders and making known the crimes of the Turkish state and its allies, including the US and the EU who even today pretend not to see the genocidal intent of the jihadist al-Sharaa, whose hands were quick to shake as soon as he "put on a suit". We stand in solidarity with the revolutionary forces facing the deepest darkness of the Middle East, at the same time as the genocidal war in Palestine continues to escalate.
They can strike down the revolution, but they will never uproot the change it brought to the consciousness of the people... and this change is the revolution!
