WORLD WORLDWIDE EUROPE BELGIUM BRUSSELS PEER - THE PINK REBEL - By Luc Schrijvers - PART 3 - Monday 2 MARCH 2026.

“Luc, you can say mass for the other children!”

a friend shouted at me.

Wow! A celebrating Mass! I had seen great priests do that so many times, it was so cool – and now I got to do that for other kids, wow. Major people around me had often said that they thought I would become a priest when I grew up – this was my chance!

“Come, let's find me a priest's robe!” I said.

We went into Mom's linen closet. We found one

bundle of fabric that her daddy gave her, for me! Perfect. We can paint a nice cross on that.

“I don't have a cross to hold yet,”

I said. My friends made one out of some branches! Awesome. They carried the cross, they pushed a toilet brush into my hands –aah yes, I have to sprinkle holy water with that!

Another Bible under my arm and we left, in procession - to the other children to celebrate mass together! So exciting. I walked among my friends in my white linen dress, very proud.

We arrived and wow– how many people were here! Children and also adults, I became very nervous.

I stutteringly started reading things from the Bible – but I didn't really understand anything. Sweating, sweating, stuttering, so nervous – but also so much fun! I had to start the Body of Christ – what exactly? Handing out? Break, celebrate? How should I do this?

“Here, Luc, the wine!” said my boyfriend.

Phew, happy. I took a big sip.

“BAH!” I spat. They had put washing powder in it!

I walked away – Bible and toilet brush and all.

My buddies followed me, almost laughing.

“Lu-huc, guard!Ha, only grown-ups are allowed to celebrate mass!”

They had tricked me! But… I actually thought this was a really nice idea. Play priest! I still wanted to do that. I kept the white cloth.

The teacher says you have difficulty reading, writing and arithmetic, boy,” said Mom.

Was that so?It was a bit difficult, but -

“We're going to let you go to vocational school later, aren't we? There you can work with your hands and make things and then you don't have to do all those difficult things of today. ”

What? With my hands? I can not do that? That's difficult too? But I write and read and… I like to play, I like to think?

_______

Someone was chasing me, I thought. There is no other way! I was in Marialaach, on a youth trip with the youth group of Father Johan. I walked around alone for a while, away from the group, but close to the accommodation. I looked behind me all the time, I heard something all the time.
