The acronym FLINTA - women, lesbians, intersex, non-binary, transgender, agender - is often used with the intention of making spaces more inclusive and/or safer. However, for some time now, there has been growing criticism of the acronym and its uses, particularly from the trans* community. People's experiences related to gender are incredibly complex - and we want to find a way to address this complexity appropriately and engage in discussion without resorting to oversimplification.
The presentation will be given by someone who identifies with several letters of the FLINTA acronym but definitely does not want to be labeled "a FLINTA person."
The space opens at 6:00 PM, and the event begins at 6:15 PM and is scheduled to last approximately two hours. The program is free of charge; food is not provided, but hot and cold drinks are available for purchase on site. You are also welcome to bring your own food and drinks. The Black Pigeon (Scharnhorststraße 50, 44147 Dortmund) is wheelchair accessible. The presentation/workshop will be given in spoken German. English translation is available upon request; please notify us in advance by emailing agdo@riseup.net if you require it. The venue can be reached from the main train station by taking the U-Bahn (stop Hafen, U47 Westerfilde or U49 Hafen).
