Dear New Yorkers,
The Partnership for New York City, which represents 300 of the city’s largest businesses and is under new leadership, has taken an aggressive stance against Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s priorities, like tax increases on the wealthy and corporations.
But a number of the employees who keep these companies humming may not agree with their C-suite colleagues.
An analysis by THE CITY found that Mamdani’s mayoral campaign received contributions totaling more than $242,000 from 1,971 employees of the firms that make up the Partnership.
Employees at tech companies led the list, even as Mamdani targets Big Tech for predatory practices.
“They are young, they live in Brooklyn and what’s interesting is not that they support Mamdani but that for the first time there is a split between tech workers and their bosses,” said Julie Samuels, CEO of Tech: NYC.
Discover what other Partnership members had Mamdani donors — and why the schism matters.
Weather 🌤️
Mostly sunny, with a high near 62 going down to 46 at night.

Mayor Zohran Mamdani established the Office of Deed Theft Prevention and named a longtime homeowner assistance lawyer, Peter White, as its director. The Wednesday arrest of Councilmember Chi Ossé (D-Brooklyn) as he attempted to prevent the eviction of a grandmother has thrust NYC deed theft into the national spotlight.
Union leaders are pushing Mamdani to veto a controversial City Council bill that would establish anti-protest “buffer zones” around schools and educational facilities, THE CITY has learned. Their full-court press included a meeting with a representative of Deputy Mayor for Economic Justice Julie Su.

Bringing the Money Smart Financial Coaching Program to CUNY
Sound financial health helps set the foundation for strong and resilient households, communities and economies. That’s why JPMorganChase helped launch a new organization aimed at enhancing financial health and academic outcomes for college students called the Money Smart Financial Coaching Program, or MSFCP.org. The program, which combines financial coaching and education into one course, originated at SUNY Westchester Community College and is now offered at seven colleges and universities across New York. By leveraging local Chase Community Managers as guest lecturers, the initiative aims to improve students' financial skills, academic performance, and graduation rates.
Fifteen home care workers protesting the state’s practice of only paying a portion of their 24-hour shifts ended their hunger strike on Thursday after seven days.
The workers decided to abandon their hunger strike after they said they received assurances from Council Speaker Julie Menin that lawmakers would vote on a bill to cap their shifts at 12 hours per day. News that workers were ending their hunger strike was first reported by Documented.
Disability advocates, labor unions, and even officials in Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s administration said that additional state funding is needed to grant workers relief without potentially jeopardizing patient care.
By midafternoon Thursday, shortly after news broke that the hunger strike ended, an encampment home care workers had erected outside City Hall in mid-March had already vanished.
