Today's SCOOP is brought to you by our members.

Dear New Yorkers,

One day after a federal judge barred federal officers from arresting most immigrants inside New York City courthouses, masked enforcement agents grabbed a 21-year-old Honduran man as he left a hearing at 26 Federal Plaza as dumbfounded observers looked on.

Rep. Dan Goldman (D-Manhattan/Brooklyn) demanded answers from Immigration and Customs Enforcement over the arrest of the 21-year-old, who lawyers identified by his first name, Alexander.

Goldman said it “appears as if ICE has outright defied a court order,” while details of the arrest were slim.

Alexander's arrest came as more than 9,600 people in the New York area have been swept up in the Trump administration’s ongoing immigration crackdown.

Late Tuesday evening, attorneys for Alexander confirmed to THE CITY that he had been released from ICE custody, but questions remain as to whether ICE's actions were in compliance with the court's order in the first place.

A No-Tent Democrat

Rudy Giuliani married his third wife under it. And Michael Bloomberg, Bill de Blasio, and Eric Adams hosted large parties between the stakes.

But Mayor Zohran Mamdani is bucking tradition and does not plan on erecting the massive mayoral party tent in Gracie Mansion’s backyard this year, according to officials.

“It’s true, Mayor Mamdani can’t compete with Mayor Adams’s record of throwing extravagant parties,” spokeswoman Dora Pekec told THE CITY.

The mayor’s limited space at his Monday night event for Jewish American Heritage Month was compared to that of previous mayors, who held the event under the big top overlooking the East River.

Mamdani’s St. Patrick’s Day breakfast in March also had limited seating, with guests restricted to the main ballroom. In previous years, revelers could access the mansion grounds or celebrate in the tent.

Mamdani and his wife, Rama Duwaji, moved into the upstairs quarters of the “People’s House” weeks after he was sworn in as mayor.
