Cette semaine, le Toots vous embarque pour un beau voyage à travers l’Europe du jazz, toujours dans l’ambiance unique de notre petit bar bruxellois : chaleureuse, vivante, un peu magique, et pleine de surprises.
Mercredi, c’est Basile Rahola qui ouvrira la jam session ! Entrée à prix libre mais nécessaire, musiciens connus et inconnus, rencontres imprévues, standards qui dérapent joliment et cette atmosphère qu’on ne retrouve qu’ici. Une soirée parfaite pour commencer la semaine en musique.
Jeudi, grand moment d’émotion avec l’un des rares héritiers de notre Toots national : l’harmoniciste français Laurent Maur rejoint une équipe 100% belge pour une soirée où l’orgue à bouche fera vibrer notre antique bâtiment avec un délicieux parfum de nostalgie. Une rencontre rare, sensible et forcément très spéciale.
Et dès l’heure de l’apéro, comme une fois par mois, la jeune Adinda Hertmans et sa voix magique viendront chanter des standards, accompagnée par Joachim Caffonnette. Le genre de début de soirée qui donne envie de rester jusqu’au bout.
Vendredi, direction le Nord avec un trio dans la plus pure tradition du jazz scandinave, celui qui a marqué toute une époque. Keep North met à l’honneur le formidable pianiste finlandais Alexi Tuomarila, que vous avez déjà pu entendre dans de nombreux projets belges, tant son lien avec notre royaume est fort. Aux côtés de Brice Soniano et Lionel Beuvens, il proposera une soirée autour de ce jazz profondément européen : délicat, lyrique, empreint de musique classique et de pop, mais toujours porté par une vraie intensité.
Et pour prolonger la nuit : late jam avec le pianiste Tomas Rivera !
Samedi, Furmi Gomez présente un projet né lors de ses années new-yorkaises : quatre saxophones portés par une section rythmique sans instrument harmonique. Une formule originale, pleine d’espace et de caractère, avec des arrangements frais et tous les registres de l’instrument star du jazz, inventé par notre cher Adolphe Sax. Une soirée pour les amoureux du souffle, du son et des belles surprises.
La late jam sera menée par Thomas Grimmonprez.
Dimanche enfin, place à l’émotion pure avec un hommage à l’immense Nina Simone par Natacha Wuyts, avant de retrouver notre rendez-vous trimestriel de chanson française avec les soirées Chantal. Une fin de semaine comme on les aime : sensible, généreuse et profondément musicale.
Bref, une semaine pleine de couleurs, de grands musiciens, de découvertes et de moments à partager.

Deze week neemt Toots jullie mee op een mooie reis door het Europese jazzlandschap, altijd in de unieke sfeer van ons kleine Brusselse café: warm, levendig, een beetje magisch en vol verrassingen.
Woensdag opent Basile Rahola de jam session! Toegang met vrije bijdrage — maar die is wel nodig — met bekende en minder bekende muzikanten, onverwachte ontmoetingen, standards die heerlijk kunnen ontsporen en die sfeer die je alleen hier vindt. De perfecte avond om de week muzikaal in te zetten.
Donderdag wordt een bijzonder moment, met een van de zeldzame erfgenamen van onze nationale Toots: de Franse mondharmonicaspeler Laurent Maur sluit zich aan bij een 100% Belgische ploeg voor een avond waarop de mondharmonica ons oude gebouw zal doen trillen met een heerlijk vleugje nostalgie. Niet te missen.
En al vanaf aperitieftijd, zoals één keer per maand, brengt de jonge Adinda Hertmans met haar prachtige stem standards, begeleid door Joachim Caffonnette. Zo’n begin van de avond waardoor je vanzelf tot het einde blijft hangen.
Vrijdag trekken we richting het Noorden met een trio in de pure traditie van de Scandinavische jazz, die een hele generatie heeft getekend. Keep North zet de fantastische Finse pianist Alexi Tuomarila in de kijker, die jullie misschien al hoorden in verschillende Belgische projecten, dankzij zijn sterke band met ons land. Samen met Brice Soniano en Lionel Beuvens brengt hij een avond rond die heel bijzondere, diep Europese jazz: delicaat, lyrisch, gekleurd door klassieke muziek en pop, maar altijd met echte intensiteit.
En om de nacht verder te zetten: late jam met pianist Tomas Rivera!
Zaterdag stelt Furmi Gomez een project voor dat ontstond tijdens zijn New Yorkse jaren: vier saxofonen, gedragen door een ritmesectie zonder harmonisch instrument. Een originele bezetting, vol ruimte en karakter, met frisse arrangementen en alle registers van het jazzinstrument bij uitstek, uitgevonden door onze Adolphe Sax. Een avond voor liefhebbers van adem, klank en mooie verrassingen.
De late jam wordt geleid door Thomas Grimmonprez.
Zondag sluiten we af met pure emotie: een hommage aan de immense Nina Simone door Natacha Wuyts, gevolgd door onze driemaandelijkse afspraak met het Franse chanson tijdens de soirées Chantal. Een einde van de week zoals we het graag hebben: gevoelig, gul en vol muziek.
Kortom: een week vol kleuren, grote muzikanten, ontdekkingen en momenten om samen te delen.

Wednesday, Basile Rahola will open the jam session! Entry is pay-what-you-can — but necessary — with familiar and unfamiliar musicians, unexpected encounters, standards that may beautifully go off track, and that special atmosphere you only find here. The perfect way to start the week in music.
Thursday brings a very special moment with one of the rare heirs to our national Toots: French harmonica player Laurent Maur joins a 100% Belgian team for an evening where the harmonica will make our old building resonate with a delicious touch of nostalgia. Not to be missed.
And from aperitif time, as once a month, the young Adinda Hertmans and her magical voice will sing standards, accompanied by Joachim Caffonnette. The kind of early evening that makes you want to stay until the very end.
Friday, we head North with a trio rooted in the pure tradition of Scandinavian jazz, the kind that shaped an entire era. Keep North features the brilliant Finnish pianist Alexi Tuomarila, whom you may already have heard in many Belgian projects, thanks to his close connection with our country. Alongside Brice Soniano and Lionel Beuvens, he will offer an evening of deeply European jazz: delicate, lyrical, infused with classical music and pop, yet always driven by real intensity.

An evening for lovers of breath, sound and beautiful surprises.

Sunday, we close the week with pure emotion: a tribute to the great Nina Simone by Natacha Wuyts, followed by our quarterly rendez-vous with French chanson and the soirées Chantal. A Sunday just the way we like it: heartfelt, generous and deeply musical.
In short: a week full of colour, great musicians, discoveries and moments to share.
