The fascist-Lega government is waging war on the poor. It's waging war on those who work, and who survive in Italy on wages among the lowest in the "developed" world. It's taking away healthcare, education, transportation, and services, to spend the money on wars, weapons, and useless projects. And those who protest are targeted by the relentless succession of security decrees. But not only that: even gathering outside commercial spaces has become a crime, with anti-rave decrees and municipal ordinances against "bivouacs." ---- The fascist-Lega government continues its war on migrants, depriving them of free legal aid.
The fascist-Lega government and its local offshoots are waging war on social spaces and on those who participate in demonstrations, with indecent fines and arbitrary arrests. And, as usual, the anarchist movement is among the prime targets. Evidently, our rejection of the state and authority is frightening, especially since the lyrics of "Addio Lugano" were used as a pretext by the Rome police headquarters to ban the simple commemoration of two deaths. All this while white-collar crimes are being swept under the carpet, and the Minister of Justice even blathers on about "modest amounts" of bribes.
We will discuss repression and the war on the poor on Friday, May 8th, at 9:00 PM at the Berneri Club at Via Don Minzoni 1/d in Reggio Emilia, with the lawyers of the Bologna-based Mutual Aid Association for the Right to Expression. The evening will begin at 7:30 PM with a convivial aperitif.
