Dear New Yorkers,

There’s an election coming up, and early voting for it starts tomorrow.

We’re talking about the city’s June 2026 primary, featuring several high-profile races for Congress and state offices.

New York does not have open primaries, so only registered party voters can vote for candidates seeking their party’s nomination in the November general election. In the heavily Democratic city, the fiercest races are among Democrats.

Do you need to register to vote? Want to know where your polling site is? Need to request an absentee ballot because you’ll be out of town? When is the early voting period anyway?

The City Reporter has a guide for you. Here’s how you can cast your ballot.

Weather 🌤️

A heat advisory is in effect, with real-feel temperatures up to 100. Mostly sunny and chances of showers and thunderstorms during the day. City cooling centers will be open. Chances of showers and t-storms continue at night, when it will be mostly cloudy with a low near 71.

MTA 🚇

In the Bronx midday, Manhattan-bound 4 trains skip Mosholu Parkway. Find all the MTA’s planned changes and the latest delays here.

It’s in effect today, June 12.

By the way…

The World Cup is here, and so are the watch parties. The city has a list of more than 100 free watch parties for the soccer tournament over the coming weeks.

Our Other Top Stories

  • The city will restrict delivery trucks in Midtown during the World Cup. But many of the affected businesses said they only found out about the restrictions when asked by The City Reporter.
  • As city cabbies contend with a spike in gas prices and a resulting drop in business, the World Cup’s arrival could become another big bump in the road for taxi drivers.

We all have financial needs and goals, whether it’s dreaming of buying a new home, starting a business, or simply feeling more secure about your finances. No matter where you are on your financial journey, it’s never too early – or too late – to get started.

Regina Ganpat, Chase Community Manager in Queens, shares ways to help strengthen your financial health journey

Q: Budgeting takes practice, and many people are still finding what works for them. What budgeting framework do you recommend, and how can someone personalize it so it feels manageable?

A: There’s no one-size-fits-all approach, but the key is to find a system you’ll actually use. There are plenty of apps and tools available to help you track of your spending each month and how that compares to the amount of money coming into your home. Once you have an idea of where your money is going, it’s easier to adjust your spending habits so you can save more.

Strengthening your financial health is a lifelong journey, and every step can help you feel more organized and confident as you work toward your goals. To learn more, stop by your local branch or visit chase.com/financialgoals.
