WORLD WORLDWIDE EUROPE FRANCE - news journal UPDATE - (en) France, LPC: June 2026 Meetings of the Platform (ca, de, fr, it, pt, tr)[machine translation]

On June 6 and 7, 2026, the meetings of the activist network "The Libertarian Communist Platform" were held in Noisy-le-Sec (93). This was an opportunity to collectively take stock of the political situation, explore the evolving immigration situation, and reflect on our activist practices and how we can act together. ---- Activists from Seine-Saint-Denis, Rouen, Nantes, Melun, Lannion, Orléans, Alsace, and Bordeaux participated in the meetings. Comrades from Paris, Amiens, Lorient, and Orléans were also represented.

The June 2026 meetings of the activist network "The Libertarian Communist Platform" mark a turning point in its dynamics. Not only has our network maintained itself after almost five years of operation, but we are also experiencing a slight resurgence. New activists regularly participate in our activities, and we continue to add new subscribers to our web newsletter.

While we have decided against reviving the organization-not because we believe it would be pointless, but because we lack the resources-we now clearly see what unites us and what we can achieve together. The first obvious point is the necessity of this space for debate and collaborative development. Our discussions have been structured around this foundation.

A Deteriorating Political Situation
The first day of meetings began, naturally, with a discussion of the political situation. In this brief summary, we will not elaborate on the common position that emerged. This will be the subject of another text, currently being drafted, which we will publish soon on our website. Here, we will simply provide a few introductory points.

It will surprise no one that we have observed that not only political life, but also our daily lives, are marked by the profound crises unfolding across the globe: economic, social, ecological, and democratic crises, not to mention the proliferation of wars and their devastating consequences.

Today, Artificial Intelligence (AI) seems to be seen as a lifeline for the international bourgeoisie in its relentless pursuit of profit. But while AI may appear to allow for a short-term rebound in speculation, it will continue to exacerbate a major social crisis and multiply economic instabilities. The increasing number of crisis factors that it aggravates legitimately suggests the emergence of a major crisis to come.

Capital is clearly aware of the situation, as evidenced by its bets on, support, and financing the rise to power of the far right, or rather, the various extreme right-wing factions. This is also what is happening in France. The phenomenon isn't limited to a few billionaires, such as Bolloré and Stérin, who are essentially funding the National Rally (RN) with no return. Today, the entire MEDEF (French Business Confederation) is preparing for the RN's rise to power and legitimizing it.

What should anti-capitalist activists do today to prevent the RN from coming to power? Because we know that it's always the most vulnerable in society who will pay the heaviest price: migrants, women, and, in general, the working class. Whatever our anti-electoral convictions, the "electoral field" cannot be ignored for this reason.

The impossible unity of the left is paving the way for the RN's rise.

Faced with this anxiety-inducing situation, most left-wing organizations seem to have only one objective: to become the strongest among the losers of the next presidential elections. Yet their electorates are extremely united. But this hasn't translated into a genuine dynamic of unity, which, by replicating the surprise of the 2024 legislative elections, could halt the rise of the far right. Sectarian behaviors seem able to quietly carve their destructive path.

So how can we reverse this situation? Certainly not alone. Certainly not solely through a convergence of libertarians of all stripes, even one broadened to include anti-authoritarians. This narrow path does exist, however. This will also be a question explored in the next text mentioned above.

Another debate has become essential: immigration. Obviously, there are connections to the previous issue concerning the rise of the far right. Immigration, it should be remembered, is at the heart of far-right propaganda, but increasingly also of the right wing and Macronism. Anti-immigrant rhetoric is also penetrating "the right of the left," if you know what we mean, when it is not being used for political purposes, aimed at destroying any possibility of unity on the left.

All of this runs counter to a genuine effort to defend the rights of foreigners. For decades now, we have witnessed a series of setbacks in this area. Retailleau's latest circular, which complicates and multiplies the ways undocumented immigrants can obtain legal status, makes us long for the Valls circular, characterized by its refusal to create any rights whatsoever, instead allowing for arbitrary prefectoral decisions.

The digitization of procedures and the delays in processing residency permit renewal applications artificially create situations of irregular immigration status in France. This absurd situation contributes to making the presence of foreigners-or rather, a segment of them-a political issue. These questions will be explored in more detail in another article to be published on our website.

We concluded our first day of discussions with a brief exchange on the issue of prostitution, during which we reached a consensus on an abolitionist position. We would like to clarify the following points:

We believe that the pervasive reality of the prostitution system is that of human trafficking, which cannot be regulated but must be abolished.

We also affirm that today it is essential to secure social rights, particularly for the men and women who suffer sexual exploitation in prostitution, not through the recognition of "their profession," but in line with a universal demand for social rights.

Finally, our first day included a review of the CGT's latest national congress. We invite our readers to consult the website "Libertarian Communists of the CGT," which provides an interesting account of it.

What we can do together
The second day of the meetings was devoted to internal matters within the Network. We began with the founding General Assembly of the Association for the Promotion of a Solidarity-Based Society, which will serve as the legal framework for our Network.

Then, a roundtable discussion was held on the theme "What are we involved in, and what can we do together in our respective fields?" We observed both the diversity of activist actions undertaken by each participant and, despite this diversity, the coherence of our approaches to activism, enriched by the opportunities for exchange within the Network. As we mentioned in the introduction to this summary of the meetings, this observation reinforces our desire to develop our Network.

Finally, practical points were addressed. First, the partnership with the online television channel Le Média was discussed. This partnership will allow us to establish a monitoring committee for the "Journal des Luttes" (Journal of Struggles), participate in the operation of the Cooperative Society of Collective Interest, and have privileged access to propose programs.

Then we discussed the Network's participation in the book project "The Anticapitalist Dictionary," currently being written by a Network activist. A collective proofreading process was organized to make it a shared resource for the Network. Practical questions, such as the issue of publication, were also addressed.

Network members are also invited to contact our comrade, drawing on his two previous books ("Understanding the Capitalist World" and "Building a Non-Capitalist World"), to organize local public meetings to raise, within the framework of the fight against the rise of the far right, the question of an alternative, a way out of capitalism.

Finally, we wish to emphasize that these meetings were also a time of conviviality and fraternal exchange among the Network activists present. And this is not just a passing anecdote. We can only participate in building a society emancipated from all forms of domination by building respectful and supportive human connections among ourselves and around us.
