Dear comrades, accomplices, fellow travelers, ---- it is difficult to write these lines. The anarchist collective Glitzerkatapult is dissolving - although we as individuals will, of course, remain politically active. ---- A brief summary of the last few years: ---- Our collective existed for almost 10 years. We were sometimes a larger, sometimes a smaller group, and yet throughout all these years we consistently organized events, gave lectures and workshops in many different cities, discussed anarchism at information tables with interested parties and critics, wrote and distributed flyers, designed stickers, held benefit events for comrades, initially managed the "Bunter Abend" (our anarchist bar, from which our collective emerged), and much more.
Throughout all these years, we also engaged in internal debates based on solidarity, said goodbye to many comrades from the group, and welcomed new comrades to the collective. Throughout all this time, we have remained true to our core values: (anarcha)feminism, animal liberation, radical ecology, and anarchism.
Of course, we have also repeatedly re-examined and reassessed our positions, discarding theories that no longer held water for us. Nevertheless, we have always been very clear in our political struggle. In short: We believe we have accomplished a great deal over the years and contributed our ideas and thoughts.
Unfortunately, we have now reached a point where we are too few in number. Some comrades have left the group for various reasons. Integrating new people has not worked well in recent years.
Furthermore, we have also drifted apart politically to some extent. While we have generally managed to negotiate good compromises for everyone recently, we have also realized individually how strenuous and draining these negotiation processes can be. Now we are exhausted by this - and have had to acknowledge that we can no longer continue as a group.
It is perhaps telling that we remained very active until shortly before disbanding. In the last three months alone, we organized a discussion meeting and a very successful benefit bingo game, as well as giving two presentations in other cities (Munich and Leipzig) and running an information booth at the environmental festival.
Leaving this chapter of our lives behind and giving up this group is not easy for us. Quite the opposite.
We thank all the companions, comrades, and groups we have met and collaborated with over the years. Thank you for the time we shared.
