We invite you to the presentation of two books by Massimo Filippi: ---- Laika, maybe ---- A docu-novel reconstructing the brief journey of the dog Laika on this planet. The book unfolds in four parts: the life of a small stray on the streets of Moscow; the extreme suffering Laika endured during the experimental sessions preparing for the launch; the few, terrible hours following Sputnik 2's entry into orbit; and her return, in the minds of those who refuse to accept the institutionalized dismemberment of human and animal bodies. A multi-voiced novel in which Laika's suffering and death become the fate of countless multitudes sacrificed on the altar of progress and profit.
Domestic Ghosts
This anthology pursues the ghosts that haunt the homes we inhabit. Homes we think separate us from the rest of life, yet are instead haunted by a mystery in which the past and the dead, small, infamous lives, and the inorganic are traces of the excess of desire.
“Domestic Ghosts” opens living to a nomadism that zigzags away from the violence of the present.
